Random checks happen at stations across country. Passengers catching the 9:30 a.m. Amtrak train from Austin to Dallas were met with an unexpected surprise when they got to the station.

Transportation Security Administration agents, Austin police officers, and the Department of Homeland Security were all waiting for them.

...

Random security checks are voluntary

...

The random check takes about 10-15 minutes and happens hundreds of times a day at bus, train, and subway stations across the country.

Voluntary until they become mandatory.

Random security checks are voluntary

Really? What happens if you decline to be "checked"?

“The security at airports has increased so the bad guys are now traveling on the trains and buses,” said Robinson. This is bull$hit! Here in California the border patrol checkpoints are almost never open on the 5 and the 91. And I love that the inspections are voluntary, they just left out the for now. So if you decide not to just give up your 4th amendment rights at the bus and train depot as they have been taken from us at airports, do you get tagged for closer government observation down the road? After all Der Fuhrer requires all of his subject to be good submissive sheep!

Don't know, but I'd speed-dial my lawyer's office, put my phone on speakerphone and drop it in my pocket.

He's good at stuff like that. So are his staff.

And I can do that at the push of a button.

I haven’t taken Amtrak since 1976. Certainly won’t be taking it anytime soon! I prefer to drive. Crank up the music, and sing at the top of my lungs. :-) Can’t do that on Amtrak, with or without TSA!

Can’t do that on a plane either. Unless it’s your own plane that is.

Where are all the folks crying ‘I’m not flying anymore because of TSA...’?

No more train travel without TSA. Then buses. Then checkpoints on highways.

“The security at airports has increased so the bad guys are now traveling on the trains and buses.”

And any time there is no TSA inspection of buses and trains, a terrorist could fly one into a high rise building!

No. Just no. The TSA airport inspections have demonstrated conclusively that there is no need for airport TSA inspections.

This being blindingly obvious, even to the TSA, the TSA is now desperate to find a reason, *any* reason, so they will not be first up on the chopping block when time comes to get control of the federal budget.

And they should be first up, followed by a whole bunch more of the ridiculously ineffective and intrusive government hyper-security espionage-police ‘apparat’.

Seriously, while we might need all 16 of the major federal intelligence agencies, they need to be looking at other countries, not us. Let the FBI, and just the FBI, look at us. That new spy complex in Utah? Shut that damn thing down. The government has zero reason to keep all emails, phone calls, Internet babble, etc. “just because they can.”

And likewise, the now 100+ federal police agencies, and the non-police agencies authorized to procure their own SWAT teams and tactical weaponry. The Department of Education DOES NOT NEED its own SWAT team, nor do dozens of other agencies. Have them send a requisition to the FBI or the Federal Marshal Service, if they need muscle.

I figure in the first year, roll about 80 of these federal police agencies into the FBI, if the FBI will take them, which is unlikely because FBI agents need to know accounting.

If not, they can work as federal prison guards, guarding all the former TSA agents who are now occupying the prisons because all they know how to do is molest people.

Speaking from personal experience, you get surrounded and intimidated all the while being told "it's voluntary" without feeling like it's voluntary.

One of their VIPR teams tried "random" security checks at Union Station in Chicago last summer. I wrote a lengthy post about it here on FR.

For my part, I refused, yelled, and drew attention to what was happening until they put some distance between me and them, then I went about my business getting to work.

They're thugs, plain and simple. Government thugs.

TSA stands for TRANSPORTATION Security Agency, not AIRLINE Security Agency.

They will eventually regulate all forms of transportation except walking on public sidewalks. Trains, boats, private cars. All of it.

Thanks GW Bush for pushing us ever closer to Totalitarian oppression. Really appreciate it, man!

This is why I have always been furious at the “I just won’t fly” crowd.

It is not about flying. That was just the obvious start following 9/11. This is about controlling all our travel. Just as Obamacare is about controlling all our health dollars and services. Just as “global warming” is about controlling all our energy usage.

Control is the key. The 60s radicals are in charge from the Presidency down to most of your local government boards and your local school boards. Where they are not the outright communists, they are the brainwashed stooges helping them.

Control the schools, control the nation.

I am in abject terror over the totalitarian tyranny that is coming. I keep praying I won’t live to see it, but at 54 years old and as fast as it is coming, I fear I indeed will live to see it installed.

And the kicker is, there is no opposition. There is credible person of renown and authority sounding the alarms bells. Meanwhile, the tea party folks are all preaching to the choir ineffectively and being sold down the river. We need powerful leaders to wake up the sheeple, but there are none. Nobody powerful is sounding the alarm.

Either they are all in on it or the ones on our side are completely incompetent.
