Hackers take over gov't website to avenge Swartz
CBS ^ | 1/26/13

The hacker-activist group Anonymous says it hijacked the website of the U.S. Sentencing Commission to avenge the death of Aaron Swartz, an Internet activist who committed suicide.

The website of the commission, an independent agency of the judicial branch, was taken over early Saturday and replaced with a message warning that when Swartz killed himself two weeks ago "a line was crossed."

The message read in part:

Citizens of the world, Anonymous has observed for some time now the trajectory of justice in the United States with growing concern. We have marked the departure of this system from the noble ideals in which it was born and enshrined. We have seen the erosion of due process, the dilution of constitutional rights, the usurpation of the rightful authority of courts by the "discretion" or prosecutors. We have seen how the law is wielded less and less to uphold justice, and more and more to exercise control, authority and power in the interests of oppression or personal gain."

The hackers say they've infiltrated several government computer systems and copied secret information that they now threaten to make public.

Family and friends of Swartz, who helped create Reddit and RSS, say he killed himself after he was hounded by federal prosecutors.

"Dear hackers, Dig, dig, dig, and expose the Obamsdork quota baby’s sordid faked past."

Maybe they can finally discover who hired Craig Livingstone.

“I’m kind of rooting for Anonymous here.”

I’m more than kind of rooting for Anonymous. “We have seen the erosion of due process, the dilution of constitutional rights, the usurpation of the rightful authority of courts by the “discretion” or prosecutors.” With that quote there, Anonymous has made some very significant points. Come on, Anonymous, publish the confidential material mentioned and embarass this administration. Get it out in the open, let the public know what it is. This administration needs to be brought to its knees.

Yes wideawake, we are ‘supposed’ to be a nation of laws.
However, the reality that I will be charged/fined/taxed for lack of health insurance that I am commanded to obey, and ALL of congress is exempt, I wonder what law that falls under.

Some folks on both sides said OWS and theTea Party had more in common than they realized.

No one on our side said that - it was a liberal lie from the start.

Maybe a few of their whore trolls - 'paid to lie' bunch - said it - but I NEVER heard it from a conservative.

Some folks on both sides said OWS and the Tea Party had more in common than they realized.

There are basically two types of folks on the left. The brainwashed dupes who actually believe what the DINO leaders such as Pelosi, Boxer and Feinstein state and those that understand the nature of the RINO/DINO Oligarchical game. Those that took the blue pill and those that took the red pill. Some people understand the nature of the Matrix. And some people do not.

We have the same two basic groups of people on the right. Those who support RINO's no matter what the cost (Bloomberg, McCain, Romney) and those that realize supporting RINO's is supporting the corrupt enemies of democracy.

The Occupier Movement was a movement from the brainwashed leftists. They railed against corporations without realizing the crony corps can only do what they do because of crony politicians. Now the hard core awake left and the hard core awake right united under the Clinton years for a brief time during the corrupt war to free Islamic Kosovo from the Orthodox Serbians.

Waking the brainwashed masses on the left side of any issue is going to be very difficult to accomplish. Take for example the crony Global Warming issue. Trying to awaken them from that issue has been very difficult. We hard core realists on the right tried to tell them. They did not listen. Putin tried to tell them. They did not listen. The President of the Czech Republic tried to tell them. They did not listen. Russian hackers tried to tell them. They did not listen. We shall see where this Justicegate will lead. If their goal is to awaken the brainwashed leftists, they will fall far short of their goal. But it does not look like that will be their goal now. Perhaps they have come to realize that, for most of the population, ignorance is bliss.

The internet can be turned off. It will be interesting to see the response of the sheeple if the current junta were to take this step.

I made it about law. You flippantly quoted John Adams as if that ends all discussion.

It is difficult for me to believe that people who are supposed to be “conservative” and fawning followers of the founders can take a statement like “we are a nation of laws” and turn it into something so trite and banal that it is in fact dangerous.

We are a nation of men who make laws. We are a nation of men who design agencies to make laws in their stead. We are a nation that is so awash in laws that it has been proposed that on any given day you and I are in violation of several city, state or federal laws.

So what do you, dear wideawake, propose we do in NYC when we catch some street vendor selling a big Pepsi? 3 years? 5 years? Being a nation of laws, I propose that we mete out justice by the ounce. One year for every ounce over 8. I further propose that the state hire and train a team of Pepsi Police to monitor and enforce compliance with the Pepsi Laws. I also propose that a commission of men and women from the various agencies be established to consider necessary steps to enact a constitutional amendment banning the sale in any state of any beverage that exceeds 8 ounces. We are supposed to be a nation of laws.

Answer the door, Monsieur Javert is calling.
