Last week was a bleak one at Thomson Reuters, the financial news and wire service giant. According to sources, as many as 3,000 people were let go, out of approximately 50,000 employees around the globe. Most of the layoffs came from the financial sectorthe sales, training and analysts divisionsbut some were on the editorial side.
Yes, I can confirm there have been layoffs across Thomson Reuters today, including editorial, Barb Burg, vice president and global head of communications at Reuters, told Talking Biz News last week. Similar to efforts across the company, the Reuters organization is focusing attention on our global cost structure as well as the need to simplify and ensure we have the skills and expertise within our organization so we can continue to contribute maximum value to the business and our customers.

Tyranny doesn't need a large bunch of party approved story readers and writers. The leftist media people just haven't learned. How many news agencies did the old Soviet union have? Not many, not free, and not many employees.
It’s okay...they got computer programs that can just take the old lies (names, dates, places) and update them....automatically and then out on the wire for Liberal MSM consumption.
F Rooters! They are the Euro-weenie version of the AP. I couldn;t be happier that these obama kissers are now living in the gutter from which they belong.
hope they freeze in the cold and starve
Damn, there’ll be no news!
They must have (finally) figured out that you don’t need that many people to make up the “news”...

Gist of Article: We have yet to nail our business strategy ... we're still trying to determine what we are ... we're still not fully integrated as a company ... we've been hurt by a combination of Wall Streets struggles and tough competition from Bloomberg ... it's still too early to tell if our management's figured out a new strategy ... we're pushing into investigative journalism while straying away from our wire service roots ... most of our layoffs have come from sales and training ... but you don't need to worry because we are certain we can turn our boat around without having to cut any more of our 47,000 employees!
Personally, I trust their certitude and business acumen just about as much as I trust their news articles.
Yeah, I love these stories; I watch Americans around me struggle every day, and they are confused by the constant “recovery” being touted. The liars who produce this nonsense are feeling the bite of the “recovery”; to Hell with them.
I agree.
It’s like deja vu all over again!
Excellent news. Hope AP follows them into bankruptcy court follow closely by the NY Slimes!
