At California's only African-American student science fair, the presentations on cardboard poster boards had a lofty mission:
High school sophomore Daniel Tekle compared germs on the euro and American dollar; ninth-grader Saron Tedla's achieved neutral buoyancy with a homemade submarine, and 14-year-old Galila Amedie's deciphered the effect of temperature on DNA extraction.
For the 80 kids -- a record number -- who participated Saturday in the annual fair sponsored by the Frank S. Greene Scholars Program, though, the science may be the easy part. Upending long-standing societal trends will be their real conquest.
Many of the students showing their projects at Cypress Semiconductor's San Jose headquarters will head back to classrooms where they often feel pushed more toward sports and music than neuroscience and cell biology.
"A lot of people consider African-Americans not as smart, and I think showing somebody that, yes, we can do all these things, is important," said Natania JonesMitchell, hoarse after explaining her absorption of light experiment in both Spanish and English.

We already know the answer to your question. Anything like that is labeled KKK or right-wing nut case. There are no White Americans....only white racists, bigots, and oppressors of the downtrodden.
I’m with you. I like the idea of a science fair but it should be open to all.

“They hear ‘Who do you think you are?’” Really....who do they hear that from? Pure BS. This is a racist and discriminatory event. And the ones it is really hurting are the black kids. They are showing by their actions, that they think their own kids are somehow inferior. Why do they have to have their own science fair? Throw them into the competition with the white kids and Asian kids. The competition will produce sharper AMERICAN minds. I worked with a lot of Americans who are black in the military. They were plenty sharp.
As long as the civil rights industry is one of the most lucrative, dollar-per-gram-of-effort industries it will always be about race, race, race, race, race, race, race . . . .
Don't you think it is more like it that far too many black Americans hate being accused of "acting white"?
A gathering of Asian scientists would have a long line of people in line waiting for an opening. It too would not past the censorship police.
This is racial profiling.
People think that because it is true. By every (IQ, grades) measure, Asians > Whites > Blacks. I am NOT saying it is genetic, but there are quantifiable differences seen. They can blame it on culture or whatnot, but it exists.

These kids are being used by the racist adults to advance their race-baiting agenda. Compete at an open science fair. Compete. This is the affirmative-action, equal-opportunity science fair. Did they ALL get ribbons and awards????

Uh, no. Just like there are no “White Engineers” months, “Society of White Engineers,” “White Women in Engineering,” “National Association for the Advancement of White People,” “United Caucasian College Fund,” “White Entertainment Television,” ad infinitum, ad nauseum.
The people who push all of ethnic and racist stuff are just that - ethnicists (a new word?) and racists. As most are probably liberals and Obama voters, they are exposed as the true racists because they are obsessed with skin color, of all things.
