Obama suggests Republicans unwilling to compromise in gun control debate
Fox News via Associated Press (AP) ^ | January 27, 2013

President Obama is suggesting that House Republicans on the issue of gun control appear neither willing to work with him nor listen to the American public on the issue.

“The House Republican majority is made up mostly of members who are in sharply gerrymandered districts that are very safely Republican and may not feel compelled to pay attention to broad-based public opinion, because what they're really concerned about is the opinions of their specific Republican constituencies,” the president said in an interview with The New Republic.

Obama also said he can get 50 percent of public support for many of his upcoming initiatives, but “I can't get enough votes out of the House of Representatives to actually get something passed. … I think there is still shock on the part of some in the party that I won re-election.”

The House is actually called: The House of Representatives because the members are elected to represent their constituents' interests.

This is the way our government works. I expect that this was skipped in civics classes in Kenya and Indonesia, so our foreign president does not understand the concept. Send him home!

Remember the Hippy chant, “Power to the people!”? This time the radicals have more voices than before. The plan seems to be to make criminals out of those who refuse to comply. Accompanying that, they will marginalize the remaining Republicans who block them in Congress. Obama and his crew won’t wait until 2014 to take power through the electoral process. They are in a hurry.

Zero said he wouldn’t compromise on the “fiscal cliff”/debt ceiling, why should Repubs compromise? The “media” will never get that.....

He needs to check out the votes he would get in his Democrat Senate.

That is the nature of a RIGHT, is it not? Merely asking for a photo identification was considered too intrusive to one’s right to vote by the Leftists. They holler like stuck pigs at any sort of infringements on the made up right to abort/choice. Use their arguments against them. These people so concerned about the children in CT. didn’t seem at all upset about the children in Mexico who were mowed down with Fast and Furious guns. Why? Is it because those were little “brown” children? Are they racists? etc.

The House Democrat minority is made up mostly of members who are in sharply gerrymandered districts that are very safely Democrat, including the majority-minority districts that were MANDATED by the courts and HIS DOJ!

This is the standard Obama response to failure -- it's always the EVIL REPUBLICANS' fault!

IMO what he means is he can’t rule his way with the pesky Constitution in the way.

There is nothing to compromise on, the amendment
is clear, The RIGHT of the people to keep and BEAR
arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!

Any attempt to do so is unacceptable, and a
reputiation of the Oath they took to serve.

My sole U.S. Rep and two Senators (one a puking, lying rat who ran to the right of the John Birch Society to get elected) were not elected to compromise. They were not elected to represent any intrests but those of the people who elected them.

" . . . because what they're really concerned about is the opinions of their specific Republican constituencies . . ."

That's called politics and representing your constituency, Mr President. It's like being a community organizer, only it's legal.

That is correct. The House of Representatives is one of two Houses in Congress. The other one is the Senate

No discussion, no compromise, no surrender, no compliance, and if it gets that far, no prisoners.
