Obama suggests Republicans unwilling to compromise in gun control debate
Fox News via Associated Press (AP) ^ | January 27, 2013

President Obama is suggesting that House Republicans on the issue of gun control appear neither willing to work with him nor listen to the American public on the issue.

“The House Republican majority is made up mostly of members who are in sharply gerrymandered districts that are very safely Republican and may not feel compelled to pay attention to broad-based public opinion, because what they're really concerned about is the opinions of their specific Republican constituencies,” the president said in an interview with The New Republic.

Obama also said he can get 50 percent of public support for many of his upcoming initiatives, but “I can't get enough votes out of the House of Representatives to actually get something passed. … I think there is still shock on the part of some in the party that I won re-election.”

“...nor listen to the American public on the issue.”

Pfft. This issue was not something the American public wanted in 2012. It was not an issue for the Presidential debates.

Funny how all that talk about Mitt Romney’s tax returns being falsified (papers please), hands off uteruses, etc. doesn’t seem to matter today.

Nope, homosexual marriage, women on the front lines, and finding ways around the 2nd amendment protection of the right to bear arms are the top agenda items of the day.

Benghazi and Fast and Furious lies are also not a matter of interest, either. LANCE ARMSTRONG LIED ABOUT STERIOD USE!!!

"Obama also said he can get 50 percent of public support for many of his upcoming initiatives"

50 percent plus 1 is not democracy, it's "tyranny of the majority". A true leader would try to achieve full support, not 50 percent plus 1.

In addition, Obam achieves this so-called majority with lies and distortions, not informing.

[Article, quoting Obama]
“… I think there is still shock on the part of some in the [Republican] party that I won re-election.”

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot -- they're still racist to the core.

Endogamously. Peculiarly. It's a well-known white characteristic, a hallmark of the breed.

We really should do something about that White Problem.

Let's start by disarming them.

[Art.] Obama also said he can get 50 percent of public support for many of his upcoming initiatives.....

You know better than that, Barko -- it's 3/4's of the States, in addition to Congressional supermajorities.

Or maybe you'd like to try to pack a constitutional convention with ACORN mouth-breathers and walk your repealer through that?

I think he is secretly hoping for some (failed, of course) assassination attempt so he can tar conservatives, and then bully the rest, like Caesar did, into passing his legislation -- constitutions be damned.

I think he is deliberately baiting conservatives especially, with that end in view -- hence the wagyu beef, the constant references to racism and imputations of same to conservatives, beating up on Texas (oh, yes, it's a definite campaign). He wants conservatives to act out so he can suspend the Constitution like Lincoln did and impose a kinetic solution.

I am not talking about assassination, but just to make it clear that he is not a king or emperor

Okay, but I don't think he's fishing for a rebuke. He wants something that his propagandists and dramaturges can hammer into a political victory over the Right on a major issue -- private ownership of firearms, which he hates.

Take 3 mentions of "Republicans" and make that "Democrats" and there you go.

"“Has Obama himself ever fired a gun? Yes, he says, he and others shoot skeet frequently at the president’s Maryland retreat, Camp David.”

A regular man of, and for, the people.

What a dope....

Thanks, BobL - nice post!

Babashane...I know. I agree 100% with your post.

I thought it was tough praying for our leader Clinton.

I had no idea what was to come. No idea a president could be this will full and unAmerican.
