Israel warns of possible pre-emptive chemical weapons strike in Syria

Israel could launch a pre-emptive strike to stop Syria's chemical weapons from reaching Lebanon's Hezbollah or al Qaeda inspired groups, officials said Sunday.

The warning came as the military moved a rocket defense system to a main northern city, and Israel's premier warned of dangers from both Syria and Iran.

Title makes it sound like Israel is going to pre-emptively strike WITH chemical weapons. That's unintentional by AP/CBS I'm sure.

"Syria has rarely acknowledged possessing chemical weapons." Hey AP/CBS, how many times do they have to acknowledge it before it's true?

"Israeli ... TV broadcast an interview with a former Iranian diplomat who defected ... He warned that if Tehran gets nuclear weapons, it would use them against Israel. He did not provide evidence." Repeated threats by Ahmadinejad that are evidence of this don't count, because crazy statements by insane people shouldn't be taken seriously unless the have access to an "assault weapon".

The mediots will breathlessly report that the weapons are not Syrian. Instead they are rogue weaponry from Iraq and since Bush dragged us unjustifiably into a war with an Iraq that never had chemical weapons, it must be Bush's fault. Or perhaps the Zionist dog's fault. But not Syria's.
