Pen- is not an intensifying prefix to ultimate. It means next to ultimate. I don’ know what ultimate party weekend you had that was pen- to that....

If I die in bed while asleep, AND driving.... That will be my penultimate party weekend, I suppose. When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep - not screaming in horror like the rest of the people that will be in the car when I do go.

When I was around 18 I looked at buying a beautiful 1967 T Bird that a man committed suicide in while running it in his garage. I was looking at it in his garage about 5 years after the fact and I just couldn't buy it. I can still see that car vividly in that garage 40 years later!
