More than 1,000 citizens descended upon the state Capitol on Monday to voice their often-emotional views in the wake of the shooting massacre last month at a Newtown elementary school that brought out national calls for gun control.
Some speakers called for a ban on military-style assault weapons and high-caliber magazines that allowed killer Adam Lanza of Newtown to shoot 20 children and six educators by firing at least 150 shots in a span of about six minutes.
The public hearing, focusing on gun-control bills offered by legislators, lasted more than 12 hours and went past 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Barbara Richardson of Sandy Hook, whose son attended the Sandy Hook Elementary School, said that cars and ladders are all regulated by the federal government in an attempt to keep the general public safe.

Funny how these hand wringers thing nothing of strapping their kid into a car over 25 ga of gasoline and head 70 mph down the road with on coming cars just a thin line between them, and think nothing of the risks.

Someone testified that the crazed killer broke 30 some odd laws already on the books.
Speakers brought home the notion several times, that since there is no one to prosecute for the murders, the CT gun owners are now the scapegoat.
Since it took 20 minutes for police to respond to the school in Conneticutt, we shouldn’t be surprized that it will take 6 months to find out what happened .
“Gun Free Zones are hunting preserves for innocent people. Period.
Think about it. You are a violent, homicidal madman, looking to make a statement and hoping to go from disaffected loser to most famous person in the world. The best way to accomplish your goals is to kill a whole bunch of people. So where’s the best place to go shoot all these people? Obviously, it is someplace where nobody can shoot back.
In all honesty I have no respect for anybody who believes Gun Free Zones actually work. You are going to commit several hundred felonies, up to and including mass murder, and you are going to refrain because there is a sign? That No Guns Allowed sign is not a cross that wards off vampires. It is wishful thinking, and really pathetic wishful thinking at that.
The only people who obey No Guns signs are people who obey the law. People who obey the law aren’t going on rampages.
I testified before the Utah State Legislature about the University of Utah’s gun ban the day after the Trolley Square shooting in Salt Lake City. Another disaffected loser scumbag started shooting up this mall. He killed several innocent people before he was engaged by an off duty police officer who just happened to be there shopping. The off duty Ogden cop pinned down the shooter until two officers from the SLCPD came up from behind and killed the shooter. (turned out one of them was a customer of mine) I sent one of my employees down to Trolley Square to take a picture of the shopping center’s front doors. I then showed the picture to the legislators. One of the rules was NO GUNS ALLOWED.

The only heartening thing, is that the pro-gun attendees were in *huge* numbers...no matter what the press tells us.
One speaker put it aptly....this is a *witch hunt* against law-abiding gun owners, with a goal for complete gun control. As I said above...this is the antis *Alynsky moment*.
I think Cuomo needs about 50 points to get into the three digit IQ range. Talk about a guy who’s just crying out for a psych eval!!! lol
I often wonder about our jury system type of justice.
Every time I am called up I am reminded that most people are mush brained.
Thank God the founders said it takes 2/3 to pass a constitutional amendment.
