Department of Homeland Security to Purchase 7,000 "Assault Weapons"
Zero Hedge ^ | January 29, 2013 | Michael Krieger

The hypocrisy of the government knows no bounds. I have said repeatedly, and continue to say, that I am against all gun control at the moment because our government is extremely violent and not only do I not expect it to protect the American people in general, I believe it is far more concerned with protecting the status quo from the people. It has become crystal clear that the political and financial oligarchs are quite intentionally attempting to disarm the populace while arming themselves to the teeth in anticipation of some horrible economic event they know is inevitable. From The Blaze:

The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians. The solicitation, originally posted on June 7, 2012, comes to light as the Obama administration is calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and high capacity magazines.

Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of RadioViceOnline.com reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 “select-fire” firearms because they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons.

That being said, it is reasonable for the Department of Homeland Security to request these rifles as they are indeed effective personal defense weapons. The agency is tasked with keeping Americans safe from those who wish to do the country harm, and its officials should be equipped with all the tools they need to do so effectively.

See the meme being pushed here? These guys want the entire population completely domesticated. They want us to depend on the government for food. For healthcare. For self-defense. Two sets of laws. One for the “rulers” and one for the “ruled.” This is the opposite of how things function in a free society.

I am sorry, but unless you think the DHS is preparing for an invasion by Al Qaeda, it is quite clear these weapons are being bought for future use against the citizenry of the United States. The writing on the wall couldn’t be clearer.

The gun manufacturers need to refuse to sell them to the gestapo.

I have a better idea. How bout we get ALL businesses to refuse to sell or service anything for this regime.

As a small business owner I have refused to hire any socialist Zer0 supporters or do business with the government. It's just too risky. Plus it makes me feel good.

Thus adding to the weapons, ammo and accessories shortage.

How convenient...

Now why would Homeland Security buy 7000 Guns? Could it be that when the collapse comes
and riots are in the streets, they will be pointing those guns at us?

From the request:
5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm
https://www.fbo.gov/?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=d791b6aa0fd9d3d8833b2efa08300033&tab=core&_cview=0

These actually are “assault weapons”. Select-fire means capable of full automatic.

Sounds like the ruling Regime wants to keep demand as high as possible so us lowly serfs cannot get our hands on any such firearms.

If they are ever able to get this order for 7000 filled I would expect to see another such purchase...lather, rinse, repeat.

"Now why would Homeland Security buy 7000 Guns?"

Because you won't get into the boxcars willingly.

Under what laws are the tyrants doing this? Are the funds appropriated for that purpose?

If not, they are illegal expenditiures and the prosecutors need to get involved....the earlier the better.

Agreed. I hope the manufacturers make it clear that they would put any goverment orders behind all the backordered civilian sales.

A bullet has always been one of the surest ways to silence political opposition.

Given that Obama has neither interest in nor respect for constitutional restraints on his power, this purchase cannot be much of a surprise.

Can we anticipate that, within the next four years, a declaration of martial law, on some trumped-up pretext or other, will nullify our schedule of elections and provide an opportunity for the president to assume the powers of a dictator?

Only a fool would bet against it.

Specifically, when the riots happen and people start defending their property with firearms,

the DHS “toys” will be aimed at the defenders.

Let's hope so. When a criminal gang of terrorists deploy these weapons, I suggest two man sniper teams. Shooters, and weapon gatherers.

Well if push comes to shove I’m betting that a good portion of those 7,000 weapons quickly become available to the public. Only dropped on the ground one time. :-)
