Father of Newtown victim heckled at hearing (misleading headline by Norwalk paper)
The Norwalk Citizen ^ | Tuesday, January 29, 2013 | Ken Dixon

HARTFORD — Some came dressed in camouflage and others in suits.

Some wore National Rifle Association hats, casual clothing or bright power ties and sat next to each other, but on starkly different sides of the raging national argument on gun control.

Both groups, totaling about 1,500 people, were frisked upon entering the Capitol complex Monday, then applauded their supporters during daylong hearings on the aftermath of the Newtown massacre.

As members of a General Assembly task force took hours of testimony, Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe joined a dozen local law enforcement executives from throughout the country at the White House for a meeting with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Attorney General Eric Holder to discuss gun control.

The parking garage was full, the line/wait outside took 2 hours long, and the testimony ended around 2:30am!! Probably ~2000 people showed with over 95% being against gun control.

The same article appears here in the ctpost.com

Archived vidoe of the day's testimony is available HERE.

Seems like a very well balanced article at the link. Even presented the views of those opposed to gun control first instead of relegating those views to a biased after thought as in common in biased news articles. Also seriously quoted both sides instead of reporting any absurd statements that might have been made.

If he lost a kid, i feel sorry for him. But that’s as far as it goes. If he thinks that because of that, i must defer to him on policy questions, he needs to be heckled. (if he even was)

And realistically, extreme grief is almost a form of mental illness in many people. They are quite literally driven solely on emotion and cannot think straight. His legislative thought is rendered essentially meaningless by his temporary insanity IMO.

I think it’s really odd that the name of the chief is the same as the man that killed the most US children in 1 incident in Bath, MI.

And a traitor as well?...

It’s not about guns. It’s about people whose “value system” doesn’t see anything wrong with killing an innocent person. It’s the lack of respect for life. It’s the lack of a clear conviction that there is right and there is wrong. It’s the current liberal crusade against free will. It’s the elimination of the death penalty. It’s the communist thought pattern - there is no right and wrong, just what is expedient.

Yes—misleading. They were apparently answering Heslin’s question—not heckling him.

Very well put. I have read that married couples often divorce after the death of a child. In many cases, each blames the other, or themselves, and simply cannot deal with it and end up splitting up. My brother-in-law lost his teen-aged son to a motorcycle accident right down the street where they lived. He could hear the accident as it occurred. The wife could not cope with it. In a short time, she went into a state resembling dementia (she was in her 40's). It was as if the grief was so great, her brain just fried.

He wasn’t even “heckled.” He asked a question, perhaps rhetorically, and the audience responded.

About 15 years ago a woman called a local radio talk show and said SUV's should be banned.

Her son was killed after his car was hit by a SUV. Out of respect the host of the show did not interrupt her to ask questions for a couple of minutes.

Finally the host ask the woman what caused the accident. To this question she replied that her son ran a stop sign and was hit by a SUV which had the right of way.

Hadn't though of Kehoe's name being the same as Andrew Kehoe of Bath, MI.

Newtown's Kehoe: “Ban assault weapons, restrict those magazines that have so many bullets in them, shore up any loopholes in our criminal background checks,” Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe told NBC News, when asked what his message to President Obama would be.

I was interested to see the pictures of the boarded up school and surprised that they were able to get that close without being told to leave.

Only later did I notice that the video was edited by James F. Tracy, PhD and tenured college professor, who can’t tell the difference between an AR15 from a shotgun.
