In my search today for a picture of the National Enquirer cover with "the truth behind those Jim Nabors/Rock Hudson wedding rumors", I saw repeated rebuking of the rumor calling it mean, "slanderous" (that would mean there was something WRONG with the allegation), and so far off the mark...
How unlikely could it have been? Apart from laws? Yesterday's "ruinous gossip" is today's way of keeping your name in print (supported by pink journalists).
