Amnesty should be this, in 50 languages: All illegal persons in this country have 30 days to leave. All those found tresspassing onto American soil will be jailed for 5 years then deported.

RE :”First, there is the sheer political question: how do Republicans get more Hispanic votes? I heard Rubio’s “open businesses” comment purely in those terms, which is good, meaning that he is not advocating amnesty as a way to pander for votes, which is what the Jeb Bush Joe Scarborough types are saying”

Its sure sounded like he was claiming that illegals will vote R on Rush, after they establish those businesses and run them for 10 years just like his friends did, OH brother.(Who did they vote for anyway?)
.
There is close to zero chance of that, in fact the opposite, so then why give them the vote?

Isnt this like handing a loaded gun to someone who invaded your house illegally, while claiming you met others similar to the robber who were very honest?

Maybe he was saying that, I was listening but also doing something else at the same time, so perhaps I heard it incorrectly. That was my distinct impression, and I think Rush’s also, because Rush would have the same concern you did for the exact same reasons.

At any rate, until we secure the border, nothing else matters a bit. NADA.

He said what you said he did to try to sell amnesty, by getting us to conclude the two would be the same.
There was no other reason to use it as a reply to Rush's comment on it.

He knows if he said ‘those getting amnesty will vote Dem unless Rs move to the left’ would be the kiss of death for his proposal and maybe him too.

Well I suppose it comes down to this: which def of amnesty do you hold to?

Some say amnesty means the illegals eventually get citizenship.
Others say amnesty means any illegal who is not deported is getting amnesty.
A case can be made for either, and I can respect both definitions.

But reality has a way of intruding. There will never ever ever be mass deportations - for many many many reasons. Just is never going to happen. One reason is that these 12 million (just throwing out a figure) people happen to have maybe 80-100 million legal citizens who like them, know them, probably don’t even realize they are illegal...and those 100 million friends etc will never stand for their friends, church members, drinking buddies, neighbors, etc being deported. Aint’ gonna ever happen.

I am not saying what’s right or wrong, I’m simply talking reality.

The next reality is there is no mechanism for massively doing anything to 12 million people. It would take ever cop, every FBI agent, every sheriff, every single LEO in the country doing nothing but deportations for several years to get this done. Ain’t gonna happen. Look how long it took the Germans to move 6 million people around, along with the massive resources.

Again, not talking right or wrong, talking reality and logistics only.

I think Rubio and Rush have made peace with that reality. I don’t think you have. Again, I am not talking right or wrong, just calling it as I see it. This thing took 60 years to get to this point. Gonna take a while to unravel. It just is.

HA_HA, I am getting beat up on another thread for saying that illegals brought here as children and say graduate from High School here should get some sort of limited amnesty to live here like Obama’s EO(Its an easy argument), but no automatic voting.

My issue is giving them the vote, and also the freebees in that order.

You sound reasonable to me. You should see the other two.

Well, those folks can beat you up all they want to, but they’re never going to get what they want, or should I say, what they think they want. The folks you are taking about would be only sent away in a mass movement, and such a mass deportation, even if it could be done (and it cannot) would bring untold misery to millions and millions of honest, legal, native citizens in ways people have not even thought about.

Reality is a tough task master, and again, took 60 years to get here, and in that 60 years, they have become part of the fundamental building blocks of the economy and the society, and gettin out ain’t quick or easy.

Rubio is daddy Bush’s boy...GLOBALIST. His loyality is to “the world”; not to America.

The fact that Romney won the primary taking the toughest position on immigration ('self deportation') and then Hispanics turned out to vote to make sure that he wasn't elected tells me that :”

1) The Do nothing wing of the R party (aka mass self exportation) wing ideas will eventually lead to full amnesty as Dems win more and more elections.

2) Giving illegals the vote (as eventual result of #1 and the Rubio and Obama's plans now) is suicide. Similarly amnesty even without the vote (which Dems wont accept) will cost taxpayers big $$$.

Here's what they propose and my having some fun with it: See #68 here

It is amazing how some conservatives, who fully understand the idiocy of “passing more gun laws” can turn right around and think that such a fantasy as that 90 day law could magically solve this problem. How blitheringly naive, not to mention totally misunderstanding of the nature of this issue.

There was a study sponsored by a Wall Street investment firm several years ago to get an estimate of the illegal alien ‘market’ inside the US.

No political agenda, just a marketing plan. They came up with a figure around 30 million.

The 11 million figure has been offered up for over 20 years. It’s a useful tool for the amnesty lobby to gull the public. It shouldn’t be cited by anyone other than GOP shills.

Believe what you will, surveys and studies and counts and estimates are all over the place. The recession has surely sent probably 5-8 million home in the past four years. 30 million now, meaning near 40 million a few years ago is ludicrous. You probably believed john Lewis and the slave trade sharks, and the 45 million homeless stats during Reagan too.

Not really. What I believe is that what you compensate for your native lack of intellect by donning the personality of an ass. It’s the way you roll.
