“...after the City Council voted to advance a measure banning semi-automatic rifles and large-capacity magazines. “
Did I miss the discussion?—or was it the typical shut up and sit down “discussion” that the left loves so much?
I guess that’s what all that dope smoke does to people up there. This country is going straight to blazes and it’s all our faults because we’re allowing this B.S. to happen!
Hurry, hide the dog!
Although I sympathize with the gun range people, they need to tread lightly on banning a “government” entity from using the facility. Their permits are issued by the governments and getting into a pissing match with the ones who control you “use” destiny is not a good idea. The range could be shut down by creating an ordinance agains’t such activities. Nobody would win then.
Now it's semi-auto RIFLES? ALL of them?
This smells just like the way the crammed health care into law. Ignore the people, and just force it through
AND I DO NOT BELIEVE OBAMA WON- I THINK IT WAS TOTAL VOTE FRAUD
January 15, 2013Burlington City Council
Burlington City Hall
149 Church Street
Burlington, VT 05401Dear City Council Members:
RE: City Firearms Ban Agenda:
In light of the Burlington City Councilas vote to pursue firearms ban regulations, the Lamoille Valley Fish and Game Club Executive Board feels we need to address the impact to our members and other firearms owners in the State of Vermont.
LVFGC has worked hard to provide one of the safest and socially active shooting facilities in this state. Our range is viewed by many law- enforcement agencies, including Burlington Police Department, as one of the very few locations capable of facilitating the annual training and qualifying required by police staff. LVFGC was built and developed over the years by our members donating thousands of volunteer hours and other resources to serve the needs of our members and the community at-large into a safe, respectful place to learn and practice shooting sports.
We view the firearms ban vote as a direct threat to the foundation of the Constitutional freedoms that allowed LVFGC to become an important and necessary facility for Vermont. Lamoille Valley Fish & Game Clubas Executive Board can no longer support the City of Burlington with such a prejudice against our club and its members, and has voted to suspend the Cityas use of our range for its law enforcement. This action is effective immediately.
We hope that the council reconsiders its actions and redirects its efforts towards perpetrators of violent crimes and security issues.
Sincerely,
Robert Boivin II
Chairman of the Board
Lamoille Valley Fish and Game Club, Inc.
The police have trained at the club for free for the past two years. ...Burlington police barred from local club shooting range - Lisa McCormack : Stowe Today : Stowe Reporter : Thursday, January 24, 2013Other law enforcement agencies will continue to train at the Fish and Game Club's firing ranges, including the Morristown Police Department, the Lamoille County Sheriff's Department, and the Vermont State Police.
The 3 comments following the Stowe Reporter story are all supportive of the gun club's action. They are worth reading.
Finally, someone taking action. It’s about time. Rise up...
That’s a weird thing about Vermont... it’s a hard-core leftist state in every other sense, but when it comes to 2nd Amendment rights, they stand their ground pretty well.
It was unfortunate that the “much needed community dialogue” (who talks like that?!?) resulted in them being banned from the gun range, but not from weapons they probably use being banned for “civilians”? Did they send a letter like this to the city council?
