From gay members to atheist scouts: The Boy Scouts America deserves

That’s one small step for tolerance, but one giant leap for states’ rights. The modified policy would, in effect, kick the can down the road to local sponsors, who could continue the abominable policy of deeming gay teenagers too “immoral” to participate in Boy Scout activities.

There is no similar step forward for atheists. This modified policy would still require local groups to discriminate against atheists, apparently because the Boy Scout Oath implies that an atheist can’t be “morally straight” unless he can do his “duty to God.”

Using this twisted logic, a number of courageous and honest atheists have been kicked out of the Scouts for rejecting all supernatural beliefs. Among them was my friend Darrell Lambert, an Eagle Scout, who had been supported by his entire troop.

The Boy Scouts have every right to exclude those who do not conform to the longstanding tenets of the organization. Calling it 'discrimination' to bar homosexuals from the Scouts is the height of irony when it's painfully obvious why the ban is in place. For atheists, an organization that puts God in the forefront of it's creed would seem to be a place they would never feel comfortable. That the left keeps pushing the Boy Scouts to abandon their own sensible rules for admission and uses the lame 'discrimination' argument while castigating the group all the while simply indicates that they are determined to destroy this fine organization that has done so much good for so many boys over the past 100 years. Obviously, that, alone, is reason enough for the left to despise it and do everything they can to infiltrate and destroy it. I'm confident that, despite a few wimpy board members poor decision, They will fail.

I saw this same BS when John Paul II yielded on “altar girls”; he left it in the hands of the individual bishops (in an environment where no bishop could survive long without allowing them). I remember when the last bishop that didn’t allow them retired; I believe it is now in 100% of American dioceses, and there is NO WAY to turn that back. These little “priestesses-in-training” are here to stay; no wonder that outside of a few small factions, vocations are down and we are importing foreign clergy/religious. At this point those small factions are the last True Church, and FReepers and other factions will be the last True Americans.

Their creepy silence during this whole debate indicated to me early on that they certainly do (otherwise they would have been targeted). In my area these issues are moot because the scouts (both groups) are quickly disappearing, selling off land and merging groups.
