Sixty-one percent of U.S. small business owners said they were “worried about the potential cost of healthcare” and 56 percent said they were “worried about new government regulations,” according to the Wells Fargo/Gallup small business index released on Jan. 31, which also showed that 30 percent of small business owners are not hiring and fear going out of business within a year.
“At the bottom of the list, but still at a surprisingly high level, 30% of owners say they are not hiring because they are worried they may no longer be in business in 12 months,” according to Gallup’s index summary. “This is up from 24% who had the same worry in January 2012.”

I believe if you went out into the heartland and discussed 2013 with one hundred small business operations. Less than five would be talking of expansion and more employees on the payroll. Most are just sitting there and lacking confidence in the next twelve months.
The economic recovery? Stagnant. The recession that ended? Well...it just kind of whimpered, went flat, and isn’t going anywhere.
Here’s the thing...when 2016 rolls around...the winner is going to be this person who talks about a bold fresh new direction for the economy. The guy talking about more redistribution or more taxation? He loses. If we hold on...2016 to 2020 will be this great bold period in American history. But the trick is....just holding on.
It is going to be nuts going to business tax preparers this year. As it gets to the first quarter, for those who pay quarterly, and then April 15, the stress level is going to be through the roof.
Massive drop in foot traffic at our mall, year-over-year, starting in September, 2012. All the stores are in trouble. I think Obama’s reelection was the last straw. The upper-middle class has now stopped spending - and the middle-middle and lower-middle classes have fallen back into the upper-lower class.
As someone who has been job-hunting the last three years, I always look forward to the beginning of the year because that is typically when businesses begin their new budget year and post openings they hope to fill on a permanent basis (as opposed to seasonal work). This year was a huge disappointment but I’ll bet many decided not to open up positions because of their fears that Obamacare costs and higher taxes were going to eat up any money that might have otherwise go to new hires.
IT is really depressing if you are unemployed/underemployed. In the future, you may see more people with two part-time jobs and government health care that are still just scraping by.
As Mark Steyn just said; Politics is the battle, culture is the war.
OB voters are voting for the guy who will give them stuff allowing them to live a licentious lifestyle, or, conversely, allow them to live a licentious lifestyle and pretend there are no consequences.

But it is not being broadcast to the cultural voter, the licentious voter, the NYT reader (many small city papers are owned by the biggies. They use their stories and papper the publication with local stories)

People are confused by these brainwashers because they want to bleieve what the progressives are trying to sell. Order in one’s personal affairs is unnecessary. Leave the clean up to the govt.
This small publisher is busy doing the job of journalism, telling people the truth as best as they can do so, in this case, that the economy is bad because of policies of personal disorder.
That’s tough, but it’s what has to occur if there is to be a turn around.

WHat they cannot see at this point is that Constitutional government allows them their licentious lifestyle along with allowing and ordered lifestyle.
THey are confused into thinking that the oppostie is true, that the Constitution is too old and outdated. They think a constitution that forces others to approve of licentiousness is the way of the future.
No. We don’t need badly ordered or immoral people to approve of order and morality, but we, don’t need to disapprove of them, either. Personally, yes, we can avoid bad company, but we are not a resligious state. We think that others’ rights to behave any way they want is fine as long as it doesn’t infringe on us.
But what these people think, as I continue interpretation of Steyn’s recent article, is that we try to do to them what they do try to do to us - tell them to behave like us and to think we’re right and they’re wrong in their lifestyle choices.
That’s not what we’re doing. WE’re just trying to get the order of law and respect for the Constitution so that we are safe and free to pursue happiness.
OB takes advantage of the infighting by driving us apart. He doesn’t care about any of this and he’ll turn on his suppporters as soon as he doesn’t need them any longer.
their pursuit of happiness is following along, being taken care of and being entertained. That does infringe on us because it takes our resources without putting back.
They just don’t see it. Will they after the money runs out?
The US (not just the floundering GOP) needs someone or an entity who will consistently communiscate that point effectively to the populace. That we share resources and pursuit of individual happiness and the Constitution allows us to do that.

Recently, I went to the library to work/write on a friday. It was, from 9 AM to the afternoon, crowded - CROWDED.
By moms w kids? No. Homeless? No. Old widowers? Nope.
Middle aged white males. Small suburban city. Thirty of them. Maybe more. Wearing a uniform - jeans and a hoodie. Like stock brokers on Wall St. wear a suit.
These guys know who and what’s to blame, because they need to know. They’re looking for work, it’s their business ot know.
Lots of folks out of work but not looking for work get to vote. They don’t know what the true story is. But their funding will run out as well. They just don’t know it.

Thats the whole idea. Barry wants small business gone. Its too hard to control. Just like small banks. The govt wants only 4- 5 large banks and only large corporations left standing. Then all of us plebes will be working for them and easy to track and control.
The one thing you would find in America today which a lot of people agree with, which a lot of people in DC do not agree with, is to stop sending US jobs overseas.
Especially do not send American jobs to China.
China is now the world’s biggest export engine. Been the largest now for about a year.
China is growing, and we CONTINUE to do absolutely nothing about the problem.
And supporting the 47% who get to vote?
Not what the framers had in mind.
And watching Ted Cruz go after Hagel (as Mark Steyn says like a sedated Elmer Fudd) and gun control in ther senate hearings, it brings one to the conclusion that every senator should be acting as protective of the Constitution and that the GOP wimps are the worst offenders, pushing this on us.
You know what, I somewhat take issue with the repeated across the board beating of Hagel, but I am perfectly willing to go along with it to get Ted Cruz more involved with things.
We need more like Ted Cruz. Even if somewhat on different topics. :D

My point, tat you got, is Cruz can and does, articulate principles.
BTW, not many of the other GOPers are able to do so, as their principles are secret. THey resemble those of the Dems - which are shallow, self serving, greedy, fearful and popularity-with-scoundrels-driven. The difference with Dems is that these are the principles their voters admire and vote for and also they have no shame, so they preen around appearing very virtuous.

Obama was a very strong candidate against Romney. He was not a strong president, but against Romney he had all the characteristics which won.
Next time around everything is up for grabs. All of it.
The thing is, long before the time for people to start making up their minds, we need to be seen as a SOLUTION.
That is why right now, publicly, loudly every day we need to be about JOBS.

I disagree somewhat.
Democrats strength is government. They live government, and they support growing government in every say except our military which shouldn’t be cut - yet that they will cut.
We should be LIGHTYEARS ahead.
But there is a tiny problem. China.
Right now, the GOP is about outsourcing. That SUCKS.
For 20 years. 30 years really. We have been been exporting ever more jobs and technologies to countries unlike us. Countries closed to competition. Countries which do not allow immigration. Countries the exact opposite of everything which makes America strong and great.
That is now impacting.
NEITHER SIDE has bothered to notice, or mention all the millions of former American jobs which are now done throughout China.
That is a major, major problem which is growing. Yet NOBODY dares mention is.
Wake up people.
Bring back US jobs. Now.
Small businesses have been forced into the age of part time employees. They will now have to employ twice as many people at half the hours and lower wages. Welcome to the 3rd World US style.
The other 39% have government contracts? :)
