Armor is not INFANTRY. You are riding. MECH Infantry is a damn joke, too.
I was a tank commander in Vietnam and a Mech Inf SL with 2 different units in the 1st Bde of the 5th Mech Inf in 1970-71. Every night set up RPG screens for our ACAVS, dug in at least one primary fighting position (when time permitted an alternate or supplementary one or both even) as part of the company defensive plan in the NDP, and spent at LEAST as much time walking as riding with 80 lb or more rucks on patrol when the ACAVS were parked in those NDP’s and daylight defensive positions.
