More 911 calls won't get in-person response starting Sunday (Chicago)

The Chicago Police Department hopes to free up the equivalent of 44 officers a day by no longer dispatching cops for certain crimes, like burglaries and car thefts in which the offender is no longer at the scene and no one is in immediate danger.

Police confirmed the change, which takes effect Sunday. Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy told aldermen last year he was considering a move in that direction.

The change is not related to plans by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and McCarthy to shift what they indicated was as many as 200 officers from administrative duties to beats so more officers can be assigned to teams that saturate crime hotspots, city spokesman Bill McCaffrey said.

Crimes that will no longer result in the dispatch of an officer to the crime scene include vehicle theft, theft, garage burglaries, criminal damage to property, the passing of bad checks, lewd or obscene phone calls, threatening phone calls that don’t pose an immediate danger and animal bites, McCaffrey said.

In my dinky town, the police usually won’t come unless there is a dead body. Not too many police officers and no money to hire more.

Notice to Chicago criminals: The following crimes will be an even lower priority than before - vehicle theft, theft, garage burglaries, criminal damage to property, the passing of bad checks, lewd or obscene phone calls, and threatening phone calls.

Go have fun . . . and remember to vote to re-elect your friends in City Hall.

Makes you feel all warm and tingly and safe all over doesn't it?

How do you start a burglary insurance recovery with no police report? Glad I don't live in Rahmland.

How do you start a burglary insurance recovery with no police report?”

Was in a relatively minor auto accident. Hit in rear end by illegal driving a car that belonged to someone else, no license, no insurance, no inspection sticker on the car, no injury, cars both generally driveable. Called police in an area within Houston who said to go to the nearest police store front and fill out a report if I needed one to turn into my insurance. Friend had home broken into and robbed in same area, told to go to the police store front and fill out a report if one needed to turn into insurance.

So it’s not only in Chicago that this is happening. And then they have the audacity to say something when we arm ourselves.

ring...ring... "911, what's your emergency?"

"There's a naked guy stealing my car, and he's masturbating in front of my 4 year old! I think he stole my checkbook, too!"

"Sigh...sir please call back when you have a REAL crime being committed...(click)".

Population control. The progressive way. You, know. The ‘undesirables’.

Not in the “good” part of Houston .... there is none. In the suburbs of Houston, there is a chance.

Sounds like Chicago would be better off eliminating the whole police force and distributing their weapons to the taxpayers to defend themselves and save a pile of cash in the process.

I have been hearing as many reports of crime in the suburbs of Houston lately Pearland, Katy, Conroe, as in the inner city or even more.

a guy sees someone breaking into his shed. he calls the polizei. they say they don’t have the resources to investigate.
he calls back 2 minutes later “i just shot and killed someone outside my house.”
5 minutes later SWAT, helicopter and 4 police cars show. they search and find a broken door to the shed but no body.
“i thought you said you shot and killed someone.”
he replied “i thought you said you had no reources.”

Accident was in West U/Village fringe, thought West U police would respond but ended up talking to HPD police. Break-in close to Huntington Park.

BTW when I went to the store front to fill out a police report, officer in there apologized. Said he car was hit by an illegal and wished they could at least tow their cars but couldn’t any more.

Guess ya gotta go visit the Poleece Office and make your complaint there and get it that way... and when they take their sweet time and make the investigation after weeks, THEN you file for insurance...

Another example of the dumbing down of standards in American culture.
Remember there used to a day when if you got caught stealing a car you
went to the big house and they threw away the key to coin a phrase?

Chicago: The nation’s armpit. Outlawed guns but refuse to protect and serve. Why anyone lives in that sh*thole is beyond me.
