Starting this week, Chicago police are changing their responses to 911 calls. Theyll no longer come right away to reports of things like criminal damage to property, vehicle thefts, garage burglaries, or other crimes in which the suspect is no longer on the scene, and the victim isnt in immediate danger.
The move will free up the equivalent of 44 police officers a day for patrol duties.
CBS 2′s Jim Williams spoke to some Chicagoans who think its the wrong move for the police.
On the block where burglars broke into a home on Christmas Day, Carmen Curio has a strong opinion on the citys new 911 response plan.
I think thats ridiculous. I think if theres a burglary, theyve got to come. Its what we pay for. They have to come, she said.

Years ago I was told by a Chicago cop that they would not respond to stolen car calls unless the caller said they could ID the perp by name. Essentially that eliminated stolen car reports. No wonder the crime rate is so low in the windy shitty. “Rahmtown”
Yet another group of government hacks that demand you pay them yet will not do their jobs.
If I were to be in the “B&E” business, this information would be like a welcome mat.
holder’s flash mob people are ecstatic.
Well duh! I thought 911 was supposed to be only for emergencies. Garage burglaries and property damage hardly qualify as such. That’s why the cops have a phone number.
When seconds count the Chicago Police are just a couple of hours away.
Oh, jeez.
A coworker showed me that video on Friday, and I can’t get the song out of my head.
LOL
Yeah, Get your blues in Chicago.... that todllin’ town
The Milwaukee County Sheriff [WI] is telling residents to arm and prepare to protect themselves and their families against criminals because he can’t due to budget and personnel cuts.
Meanwhile, in Cook County [IL] the citizens are disarmed and at the mercy of the corrupt politicians and the gangs battling over turf. Obviously the citizens aren’t high on the “serve and protect” list here.
This is an inevitable consequence of more crime. Just think what’s going to happen to Chicago when the SHTF? Think the police are prioritizing their calls now? Just wait.
If Chicago keeps cutting cops, they won’t be showing up for any reason.
This is no surprise when one realizes that, unless one is in police custody, a citizen has NO Constitutional/legal right to police protection. NONE. Which makes ‘gun control’ and the bastards who are pushing it-—unmitigated evil piles of dung.
LMBO!!!
“When seconds count, the cops are only... oh, a few days away, give or take.”
For some reason, Chicago just refuses to hire more police officers. It might be the pension bomb going off again and again.
patrol duties = more revevue
Like all other American cities these days.
One big, filthy, violent mosh pit.
Only the criminals have guns.
The police are fat, overpaid, underworked, get fat pensions and hang out at the donut shop.
If something bad happens, you are on your own.
Oh, and...
PAY YOUR DAMN TAXES PEASANT!
