Rick and Ryin Reese, gun dealers ordered to be released on bond by the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico on Friday, have still not been allowed to go home, a source close to the case informed Gun Rights Examiner this evening. The father and son had to spend the weekend behind bars because the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office has still not delivered the ankle monitors required by the bond release order.
Rick and Ryin Reese are the last two members of a New Mexico gun dealer family jailed for allegedly knowingly selling guns to cartel members, but who were found not guilty on the most serious charges of conspiracy and had money laundering charges against them dismissed. They were convicted on a handful of lesser charges of making false statements on forms, basically under the presumption that they should have know federal agents were lying. Wife Terri was released on bond last year, and son Remington was cleared of all charges.

The Fedcoats are just needing a little more time to set up the “hit”...
"'It's 5 p.m. Monday and they're still waiting,' the source reported. 'There are no ankle monitors yet, and the family is hoping U.S. Probation will get it together.'"
The judge should sentence the prosecutor to the same jail for the same period of time as the Reese family.
The judge’s order should have stated that if the ankle bracelets aren’t available they could be released without them.

I sure don't mean to start any arguments, but I'd make the sentence three or four times as long as the family members have had to endure for no reason: in the first place, there were more of them, and in the second, lawyers are supposed to be at least superficially familiar with the law, and ultimately, prosecutors are supposed to be public servants, not petty tyrants.
The Albuquerque Journal ran a story last Friday (?) stating the Feds had withheld evidence and the Reese’s were eligible for a new trial. Seems odd they are still in custody.
The wrong people have been in jail.
Most definitely.
They’re just gettin’ warmed up. Much more to come. I’m sure all of the “radicals” on FR are on the list.
After second thought, I’ll concur with you, and even add that there whereabouts should also be monitored by the courts and the defense via ankle bacelets and their freedom of movements restricted. Additionally, they should be prohibited from participating in any investigations of any suspected criminals at all until conclusion of the Reese case. Their salaries should be paid into an escrow account and their bank accounts placed under jurisdiction of the court, for possible compensation to the Reeses as the result of potential civil action.

It is only common sense.
I agree.
