Amen, Venturer! I was sitting in the waiting room at my doctor's office a few months ago and there was some woman talking to the receptionist bragging about how she would not have to pay for birth control under Obama-care. Absolutely disgusting!
Keep Faith with the Fallen of Benghazi! Let the Obama Regime, for once, tell the Truth!
Fiat Justitia, Ruat Coelum!
Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

“The Bishops” (whoever they are) did not support Obamacare. I’m sure there were a few lefty flakes, but the majority knew it was going to be a problem because of its scope.
Would they like some kind of comprehensive health care program? Probably, but who wouldn’t? Rush was talking about the head of Johns Hopkins neurosurgery, who spoke at the prayer breakfast and urged MSAs for everyone (Medical Savings Accounts), which would not only get the goal of medical coverage, but cost less and put it in the hands of individuals.
The fact that we haven’t come up with a good answer is what allowed Obama to build up the popular support to stampede the Dems (many of whom had reservations) into voting for this.
We have to be proactive in dealing with problems, and not sit around and carp because a solution may not be perfect -— and then end up with something far worse because we have done nothing and supported nothing.
If anything, I’d say the big problem was that the bishops didn’t give it a lot of thought. Nobody believed that it was going to pass.

The Cardinal, and American Catholics, are getting what they voted for. Now they’re whining “but this isn’t what we meant!”. I’ll support the Cardinal. After all better late than never I suppose. But he owns this mess as much as Obama.

Why does the Government have to tie in Birth Control with Insurance and force us to pay for it.
If they wish to give it away just shut up and give it away, have it at the door of the drug store and let anyone help themselves paid for by taxes.Don’t claim that my insurance pays for it,
Certainly we all know that Government pays for abortions from our taxes, There is no way that any religion can beat that although it lets them say they don’t like it. To have an Insurance sold to Catholics or anyone else and say it has to pay for Birth Control is plain stupid.

We cannotwe will notcomply with this unjust law.Two things.
1. Since 1913, the Bishops have been pushing for socialized medicine. Well, they (and we) finally got it Now they don't like it (rightly so). They're a little late with their objections.
2. Would they likewise object to an unjust law against firearms? Somehow they've never impressed me as 2nd Amendment advocates.

Absolutely, and if they didn’t take a stand now (since they seem to have gotten their own exemptions) it would be seen for what it really was: universal healthcare with all the Devil’s bells & whistles, but the Church wouldn’t have to pay. I’ve seen similar duplicity when it comes to religious school teachers unionizing; what’s good for the goose is apparently not good for the gander (and the gander fights it tooth and nail).

The Bishops spoke out about electing Obama the first time around.
The list of U. S. bishops who have spoken out on the priority of the life issues in this election is now over 100. The list now contains 70 individual bishops and three joint statements.
I would like to continue updating this list until the day of the election. I have tried to incorporate all the comments thus far. If I dd not get them all, I apologize. (For a few of the suggestions, I could not find a suitable link.)
Please continue using the comments section to let us know what bishop is not on this list who should be. This would include any bishop who has individually, or jointly, published a statement about this election pointing out the primacy of the life issues.
Thank you for your help.

I agree.
Most Catholics have no bloody idea what the faith means. The Church is reaping the harvest of 50 years of poor catechist and weak seminary. It’s all mushy and meaningless. For too many Catholics, their faith is the Democratic Party. These folks will march blissfully into a totalitarian atheistic hell hole of their own making and never look at the larger moral implications. When the hierarchy finally make an attempt to turn the ship about, they’ll discover that they lost control long ago.
When I hear someone say the words “social justice” I just stop listening, because I know that is all they think there is. If you bring up the subject of evil to them, their eyes glaze over because they believe it to belong to an ancient mythology. When they speak the Creed at Mass do they listen to what they’re affirming?
Apologies for the rant...just upset Catholic.

The U.S. Catholic bishops have been adamant supporters of government-mandated health insurance for decades. That's different. Abortion and contraception is not health care.
