Remember when you entered the U.S. Armed Forces or applied for federal employment? There was one question on those forms: have you ever advocated the overthrow of the U.S. Government by force? Not so far-fetched now, is it?
The wording of that would not include advocating secession,
because that isn’t “overthrowing”, but separating from, the US Government.
