Alleged cop-killer Christopher Dorner has vanished.
More than 24 hours after Dorner allegedly shot and killed one police officer and injured two others, police say they have no idea where the former cop with a vendetta against police has gone.
"He could be anywhere at this point," Sheriff John McMahon of the San Bernadino County Sheriff's Department said today.
Police are also trying to determine whether Dorner left his burning car on the side of Big Bear Mountain and earlier dropped his badge in San Diego as diversionary tactics to distract police.
Wherever Dorner is, law enforcement officials fear that he may be heavily armed, possibly with a powerful .50 caliber rifle, which shoots five-inch long bullets that can pierce bullet proof vests and vehicles, as well as a shoulder-fired missile launcher.
Dorner, 33, a former Los Angeles police officer and Navy reservist, sparked a region-wide dragnet after allegedly killing two civilians on Sunday and releasing an angry "manifesto" airing grievances against the LAPD and warning of coming violence toward cops.
In the manifesto Dorner published online, he threatened at least 12 people by name, along with their families.
"Your lack of ethics and conspiring to wrong a just individual are over. Suppressing the truth will lead to deadly consequences for you and your family," Dorner wrote in his manifesto...

This is most likely just fear mongering to keep up the pressure on gun control, not that they actually think he has them.

To be a little clearer on what I was saying, I’m not saying that Dorner wasn’t an officer in the Naval Reserve. That appears to be a fact.
Only saying that in some neighborhoods (like one where I resided during the late-’70s), laying it on really thick is considered to be slightly funny and sociable. It’s cool. “Hey, I’m the Duke of Earl, baby! Come on over to my crib!” [Heh, I’m getting older.] Not trying to make any kind of racist statement here, and that kind of talk was kinda funny.
But sometimes, such talk is mixed with more serious matters for effect. Dorner might have been stretching certain details about training more often seen in infantry-related MOSs, weapons that he has, etc. BTW, he might more effectively hide in a heavily populated, built-up area than in the boonies, too. Many have.
They will correct the story tomorrow and say that it was a 30mm. GAU he is running with...

Woah! I can’t imagine the size of the weapon that fires a .50 cal. round with a five inch bullet! Hell wouldn’t that make the whole round about eight or nine inches long. I love the media when they write about a subject which they lack knowledge of, oh wait that would most everything.
Right now, there are a lot of people who'd like to help him. Well, sort of.
That would be great, then we can post that pic that shows the 30mm to be about the same size as a VW Bug.
