Manhunt for ex-soldier who shot police chief's daughter and killed policeman (SEND IN THE DRONES)

Police plan to use spy drones in the hunt for a Rambo-style ex-soldier and policeman who has murdered three people and vowed to kill again.

They believe burly, heavily-armed Christopher Dorner is holed-up in the wilderness of California’s snow-capped San Bernardino mountains 80 miles east of Los Angeles.

The burnt-out shell of his pick-up truck was discovered in the nearby resort of Big Bear, where residents and tourists have been warned to stay indoors as the search continues.

Yesterday, as a task force of 125 officers, some riding Snowcats in the rugged terrain, continued their search, it was revealed that Dorner has become the first human target for remotely-controlled airborne drones on US soil.

A senior police source said: “The thermal imaging cameras the drones use may be our only hope of finding him. On the ground, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.”

My my, getting a bit touchy over there in Obozoland. I feel your pain. Try some good Tennessee whiskey.

Enjoy your SSA check from the fellow tax payers and Country you deserted and now criticize and laugh at.

Please add me to your list.

No.

You need to follow the instructions to get on the list.

I’m still somewhat agnostic on this Rambro situation. But I don’t put anything past anyone anymore... not in this mad world.

Same here.....

He is more than halfway across the nation, possibly crossing the Mississippi River yesterday.

Nope. He's in Arkansas around Fayetteville in the Beaver Lake area.

“Rambro doesn’t like the cold or snow. You can bet he’s laying low in LA and has people hiding and taking care of him”

He went to college in Cedar City Utah, and owns property in Vegas.

Vegas is a metro area of a million population, but Cedar City is a few thousand.

First he has to/had to get away from Big Bear.

Very difficult to disguise that big brown bald body.

But he has indicated he expects to die, so he maybe most interested in reaching his next shootout spree.

What more appropriate way to die, than back in LA?

Idiots. He wasn’t a soldier, he was a sailor. Has any journalist of this generation spent even a day in uniform?

As a former Navy Reservist myself, I’m only too happy that they keep referring to him as a “soldier.”

Sadly, you couldn't be more wrong.

The "IR" stands for infra-red.

You will glow like a hot coal on camera.

Took what weapons he could, torched the rest with the disabled truck.

Why did he set fire to the truck? As I understand, it was on some forestry road; those are 1-lane (at best) and nobody drives there without need. He could have left the truck without burning it, and then nobody would know that it's his truck - not for days, if not for weeks.

Why would he set up a base on a mountain, in a place where strangers stand out and where you have only a few easily blockable roads? A place that requires either assistance or frequent trips to cities to obtain food. A place where he is not a typical person around. That would make no sense.

It does sound, though, improbable that he intentionally drove his truck up there, intentionally left some of his stuff, intentionally broke the axle (how do you do that on demand?) and then disappeared into nowhere. Most of this stuff doesn't help him at all. I must surmise it was an accident, and his plan B failed just like the plan A. Now he is on plan C, hoofing it through a foot of snow on terrain that is inhospitable even in a warmer season. The Occam's Razor tells me that Mr. Dorner is not as smart as he claimed; he is probably laying dead in some ravine, with broken neck from a fall. His tracks and his body are covered with fresh snow, and by spring there will be nothing left to recover. Coyotes will tear his skeleton apart and carry each bone far away; the buzzards will do the same with whatever they can lift. The animals are probably already busy. He may never be found.

It’s getting to the point that NOT believing in wingnut conspiracies means that a person is crazy.

“The thermal imaging cameras the drones use may be our only hope of finding him. On the ground, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.”

While there is a lot of totally justified drone paranoia in the public after all of the terrorist zapping publicity, situations like this rogue cop on the rampage or a kidnapped or lost child in the woods will inevitably result in acceptance of drones as a “new normal” for the police to deploy...for better or worse depending on the patriotism of those giving the orders.

From looking at the service record that has been made public it appears that he failed out of flight training, then went into the reserves as an intel officer. The units he were in were riverine groups not special boat units. My guess is that he never attended SERE.

The Beltway snipers probably could have remained at large if they hadn’t tried a stupid extortion scheme with a stolen credit card. Had they destroyed the Bushmaster there wouldn’t have been any direct evidence to connect them to the murders.
