Hagel Went to Five Colleges, Was ´D´ Student; Media Oblivious
Breitbart ^ | 2/10/13 | Joel B. Pollak

Posted on 02/10/2013 6:09:01 PM PST by Nachum

Remember when the mainstream media mocked a politician who had to attend five colleges to graduate, whose academic record was less than outstanding, and whose subsequent success was proof of nothing? Remember how that was supposed to be a threat to national security, the economy, and so much else? That was so 2008, so Sarah Palin. It turns out that former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE), who is now awaiting confirmation as Secretary of Defense, attended five colleges and was a "D" student. He volunteered to serve in Vietnam,

Sure, but you cannot tell me that someone who managed to get that far, connections or not, isn’t very, very intelligent.

My early college life was like that, but I went back to college three years ago and graduated summa cum laude last year. It’s amazing what a few tours in a war zone will do to straighten up a young flunkie.

To do what you have done, I doubt you were ever a "young flunkie." The proof is in the pudding.

Thank you for your service.

Exactly. I knew a guy in high school that was a total party animal. Missed an entire quarter due to several issues. Took the quarterly cold and scored in the 90s.

He didn’t pull that off being s total dummy. And neither did Bush.

Oh, you mean Thurston Howell III and his wife Lovey. His royal haughtiness is worthless. Which is and understatement.

Hagel’s apparently a dope all the way around. He was a terrible senator, a backstabber but the republican establishment would have supported his re-election because there was an ‘r’ next to his name. And Obama thinks a ‘republican’ gutting the defense department will give him cover a la “only Nixon could go to China.”

My high school record was stellar, valdictorian, 160 IQ, won an appointment to Naval Academy. But my dad was a crook and he was convicted of embezzlement. That threw a monkeywrench into our family’s life. I washed out of the academy and I entered enlisted service. Got my commission through OCS.

Bush was a “C” student at Yale. He received his MBA from Harvard.

>Getting a C there easily put Bush in the top 5% of the most intelligent people in the country, if not on the planet.<

.
Perhaps GW was (or is) in the top 5% when it comes to grading the intelligence of the American people.

But he is definitely not in the top group of those who love this country or he would have prevented Obama in becoming POTUS.

You may say, “Ah, that’s politics.”, but I say “F..k politics, the country comes first before everything.”

But unlike Sarah Palin nothing that Hagel has ever said about Obama turned out to be true.

Bush's transcript mysteriously appeared in a hit piece in The New Yorker, a magazine long hostile to Republicans, in late 1999 (when it was known he was running for President). My guess is that someone at Yale leaked it to them. His grades were a mix of C's and B's--earned before the era of grade inflation. He was heavily involved in extra-curricular activities so probably could have made A's in some courses if he had spent more time studying.

Kerry's grades were about the same as Bush's (he's older so wasn't in the same class year at Yale) but the media never used that against Kerry.

Gore, at Harvard, had some A's as I recall, but also had some D's...overall record not much different from Bush's.

None of them were upwardly-mobile first-generation college students from middle-class or poor families...so their attitude towards grades may have reflected their social background.

That I will never deny. Not that I’m happy to say that since I liked and supported a bunch of things he did.

But he also did some that has no justifiable excuse.

What always amazed me about the "Bush is dumb" mantra by newsies, is that he flew jets. A jet jockey is no dumbie.

The media--different story. They are mostly fiction writers and without much imagination, at that. Someone hands out a story line and they all jump on it with the same phraseology, so as to try to make the sheeple believe it.

Gore’s grades were about a C minus. He was a poor student. Bush had better grades than Kerry and Gore.

Yup, same here. I don’t care how connected or whose dad is who, no one in the military gets into a million dollar aircraft unless they should be there. And CAN be there.

Just goes to show how stupid the public at large really is. Five seconds of thought would tell you that much, but since people have been discouraged from think that much and just reacting emotionally (to say nothing about logic/debate being banned from most school curriculum for a while now), we get people who can’t decide between HuffPo and TMZ as their hard news sources.

And boy has America benefited!
