Abstract
Objective. To determine if recognizably homosexual adults are frequently accused of the sexual molestation of children.
Design. Chart review of medical records of children evaluated for sexual abuse.
Setting. Child sexual abuse clinic at a regional children’s hospital.
Patients. Patients were 352 children (276 girls and 76 boys) referred to a subspecialty clinic for the evaluation of suspected child sexual abuse. Mean age was 6.1 years (range, 7 months to 17 years).
Data collected. Charts were reviewed to determine the relationships of the children to the alleged offender, the sex of the offender, and whether or not the alleged offender was reported to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual.
Results. Abuse was ruled out in 35 cases. Seventy-four children were allegedly abused by other children and teenagers less than 18 years old. In 9 cases, an offender could not be identified. In the remaining 269 cases, two offenders were identified as being gay or lesbian. In 82% of cases (222/269), the alleged offender was a heterosexual partner of a close relative of the child. Using the data from our study, the 95% confidence limits, of the risk children would identify recognizably homosexual adults as the potential abuser, are from 0% to 3.1%. These limits are within current estimates of the prevalence of homosexuality in the general community.
Conclusions. The children in the group studied were unlikely to have been molested by identifiably gay or lesbian people.
Here are some other conclusions of true scholarly articles:
“Since 1978, no credible new data have been published that contradict the conclusions” [that pedophilia is a crime committed almost exclusively by heterosexuals].
“Existing studies provide no reason to believe that anything other than a random connection exists between homosexual behavior and child molestation. The typical offender is a heterosexual male.” [p 610]
“Suggests that homosexuality and homosexual pedophilia may be mutually exclusive and that the adult heterosexual male constitutes a greater risk to the underage child than does the adult homosexual male.” [p 609]
Just think of the Sandusky case as your best guideline. An adult male in a stable marriage with children who in total secrecy is also a pedophile of young boys, with no indication of any homosexual relations with any adult men.
This means 18% of the abuse was perpertrated by 2% of the population.
You understand that even your cherry picked study indicates that same sex pedophilia occurs at rates 6 to 900% higher than same sex representation in society right?

You are absolutely correct on the two-deep. I take it so literally that I have had to turn down friends requests to drive their kids, family friends to a scout meeting.
We normally transport two boys to Scouts in addition to my own. Last summer, my wife and kids were traveling. The two scouts could ride with me, but they live about a mile from each other. One is the son of a longtime family friend. His dad is deployed and as the oldest of several kids, his mom is pretty busy. I called my Unit Commissioner and asked him if he thought 5 minutes alone would be permissable. He said to use my best judgement.
Circumstances prevailed and I didn’t need to worry about it, but it’s always a concern.
Part of the call to the Unit guy was to be on record that I was going to have to break Youth Protection protocol for a short but necessary reason.
One important point here is that while the guy was a scout leader, the abuse happened in his house with friends of the kids living in his house, NOT with other boy scouts.
The BSA has a strict rule that no leader can be alone with a scout, to help prevent this type of abuse.
In fact, before any adult can go on a Scout Function, they must attend Youth Protection Training, which goes into detail all of the "Do's and Don'ts"
Of course somebody who really wants to harm the kids will know that it's wrong. But it certainly is how the BSA covers themselves legally. But even with all of that. A parent still must be vigilant just the same.
