Even former Philadelphia Police Lt. Jonathan Josey called the video "disturbing."
The video of him swinging at and decking a woman at a Fairhill street party after last year's Puerto Rican Day parade was enough to end his decorated 19-year police career and get him charged with simple assault.
But after a three-hour nonjury trial Tuesday, in which Josey testified that he accidentally hit Aida Guzman while trying to knock a beer bottle from her hand, a troubled-looking Municipal Court Judge Patrick F. Dugan seemed uncertain.
Saying he "needed more time to digest this," Dugan said he would announce his verdict from the bench on Feb. 26.

To be fair, there is no context given. What was the girl doing prior to her being retained?
It did seem like abuse, to be honest, but what is the context? And why was the video cut the way it was (to dis-allow context)?
I can’t view the video because of rsp short?
Thanks for that Theo. I can’t get a non-mobile link on my iPad.
OMG, she buckled like the 90-pound thug she is.
Sorry, he just clocked her because he didn’t want to chase her any more.
Looks like the cops were gangbanging someone in the car and this girl was saying something behind them. Made one mad and he went after her and “tried” to knock the bottle out of her hand with a punch.
Good thing she wasn’t holding a donut. Prolly woulda lost an arm.
BS.
You clearly cold cocked her and was ready for a follow up with your left fist.
Then you ripped her arms backward and up, sharply, and slammed your cuffs on her.
You then yanked her, forcefully, upward by her forearms to cause pain and in so doing I wouldn’t be surprised you tore her rotator cuff.
Thug.
bulloney, he decked her on purpose
why is she a thug?
I was being sarcastic because clearly the uLEO cold-cocked a 90 lb woman.
Coldcock's the one you never see comin'.
In the very beginning of the video, some guy on the left side of the screen slings a cup’s worth of beer at the cops, then the cop turns around, sees her holding a beer, and decks her.
Thank God there wasn’t a dog involved. Poor pooch would have been shot on the spot.
Nobody here cares about context, it seems.
Yes, this seems to be an extreme overreaction by the cop. But what is the context? Maybe someone threw a beer on him, and he *thought* this woman was the person who did it. Not an excuse to punch her, of course, but maybe the trigger that set him off.
That's the context.
And that's also why a good percentage of the country is cheering for Chris Dorner after he declared war on the cops and gunned down a few of them.
Maybe the cops should ask themselves why they are so hated. Maybe the cops should actually police themselves.
Or maybe he was just trying to grab her beer.
According to the u-tube this happened 4 months ago .. the guy was a 19 year vet and the Trial was up coming .. he said he was just trying to “knock the beer out of her hand”
If that was my sister or daughter I’d bet I could come up with some clever defense excuses myself and mr 19 yr vet could spend his retirement in a far less comfortable physical condition than I found him. I’d even plead if he had to do the same time as me. (His Dog is completely Safe with me)
TT
Cops in Coldcock take freebies from retailers. Film at 11.
Cigar or auto?
“Maybe the cops should ask themselves why they are so hated. Maybe the cops should actually police themselves.”
Wow, that’s the most intelligent comment on this thread! What a concept! Actually work to make sure that you and your fellow LEO’s actually follow the laws that they seek to enforce against the rest of us. I don’t know anyone in our town who respect our cops. They act like “we are the cops, we don’t have to obey no stinking laws, because we ARE the law.”
