I wonder how many civilian posses burned outlaws out of their hideouts only to dangle them from the nearest tree?
Last time it happened in my little town was about 150 years ago. As I understand the story a rapist was hiding in a barn so the locals torched it. He ran out and ended up hanging from a bridge less than 100 yards from where I sit.
Wasn’t J.W. Booth burned out?
