Billionaire businessman Donald Trump has nothing but praise for the tea party.

“I am a Republican, but I believe strongly in the tea party — and I love the people of the tea party,” Trump told WPTV-News Channel 5 on Thursday during the Palm Beach County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. “I love many of the things they represent — and you know what? They love me...

Whether you support Donald Trump or not...

(I happen to support him)

He is a breath of fresh air. The Tea Party would do well to adopt Donald Trump.

Big time. No candidacy for the Presidency. But support him, and let him support us.

Just saying.

Um, Mr. Trump....we are independant and are ‘leaderless’. Would like to keep it that way.

On a local NY radio station they mentioned that Donald Trump and Newt Gingrich were the last two standing Tea Party supported candidates which makes them the defacto leaders of the movement.

The tea party is at the point where it needs leaders and better organization if it wants to make a bigger difference and fight party machines. That being said, the last thing we need is this attention whore anywhere near it.

Some crosscurrents going on here. The Donald says, correctly, that Karl Rove is a loser. For a couple of days now Mark Levin has not been holding back at all as he pounds on Rove for lying and other misdeeds. An ever increasing number of people are talking third party.

But faux news just signed rove on for another couple of years at least.

Are people inadvertently choosing sides for the coming political conflict? Or maybe another kind of conflict?

I dunno.

If the Tea Party is going to become a real force, there will need to be adjustments.

Real power will mean real powerful supporters.

I think Donald Trump is ok. I think Newt is ok. I think bringing gentlemen and ladies from all over is ok. I think it is part of growing and becoming more powerful.

Just don’t let anyone call the shots is all.

Or not. You have your opinions just as I have mine.

:D

Trump has a lot of faults to be sure, but he has something the Tea Party needs, and that is someone with charisma.

Um, Mr. Trump....we are independant and are ‘leaderless’.

And out of power. I don't like it, but the fact is, that the Tea Party is going nowhere without a charismatic leader, preferably one without the baggage that Trump has.

Don’t always agree with Trump, but at least he’s got a pair. Repubs are acting like eunuchs.

Unfortunately Trump filled that vacuum almost a year ago. Obviously nobody else wanted the job.

Tea Party needs to get organized, but don't let "anyone call the shots".

I hear these conflicting statements a lot. I get emails from Freedom Works and various Tea Party groups. Wish they'd all join together to form a united front, yet at the same time, I don't want anyone "calling all the shots", either. The GOPe has turned me off of anyone calling the shots.

What to do, what to do?

Trump will tell it like it is. There aren't may (R)epublicans you can say that about; certainly not Rove and members of his camp.

Trump made a great point today. It was the Tea Party efforts that elected Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. Meanwhile, Rove squandered $400MILLION on establishment beltway insiders and came away with nothing.

A Board of Directors who select a Chairman of the Board. The Board should be active in the direction of the Tea Party.

I nominate Sarah Palin to the Board.

Palin gave us Ted Cruz and also our only Senate seat pick up this cycle and was a massive force in 2010 also, Trump needs to figure out how to help in some way besides just pulling strange stunts and pretending to be in front of something, he really is an odd egg that doesn’t have any place.

Exactly my point.

We want to grow, and we want to succeed.

We do NOT want to inherit a “leader”. Or even have one, except as a President.

Yet growth attracts such people. I agree with you, and recognize we need to be (very) cognizant of how our organization grows.

I support Trump. Many hold many views, I just speak for me.

Could he be a problem? Sure.

Could be be part of a solution? Equally sure.

There will be a whole lot of such questions, if the Tea Party becomes a real force in America.

I am starting to look in that direction though.

I would welcome Trump to give us a timely lift.
