Colorado gun control [vanity]

I just received a call from an organization called "Mayors against illegal guns" or some such. It was an attempt to call and get me to speak with my representative about how I wanted to support the recent legislation around 30 round magazine bans and universal background checks.

I spent about 5 mins telling the caller why they were wrong and that these laws always ended in confiscation and enslavement of the citizens. To no avail and we eventually agreed to disagree and hung up.

However, this tells me that there is a STRONG push to get people to influence their representatives. So I am calling on all Colorado Freepers to BOTH email and call their state representative and senator to let them know that they oppose the legislation.

Folks, do not delay on this. Get the word out to your friends and family and raise a ruckus!

I thought this was funny because yesterday I sent an email to my representative explaining why such laws took away the rights of Colorado citizens.

Sounds like Bloomberg’s organization of criminal politicians.

It was a good idea for you to talk to that person instead of just hanging up. There’s even a faint chance you gave him or her some doubts; however, and far more important, you wasted over five minutes of that peson’s time that could have been spent making more productive calls, a very good thing to do.

Somebody needs to come up with a pro gun advertisement showing the importance of armed citizens against an oppressive government. Say a short re-enactment of the American Revolution without guns. Show what a big, oppressive government can do without a means of response to force. Might open the eyes of a few low information voters.

Maybe just print posters and fliers with the names and addresses of all the gun grabbers. These gun free zones should be public knowledge just like concealed carry permits are in some states.

The wonderful thing about such information is that anyone nearby that feels endangered by a criminal would know where to flee to for the protection of a gun free zone.

Just get some footage of the LA riots and show how most of the neighborhood was looted and destroyed and how Reginald Denny was almost killed while the cops kept out of the area. Then show how the Korean store owners used their “assault” weapons to keep the same thing from happening to them and their neighborhood.

That way you wouldn’t have the high cost of filming anything or actors and such, and you would just have to use stock news footage at a very low cost and editing costs and it would be totally real, relevant, and (I believe) would drive home the point more than anything.

I was floored when I heard that my (pubbie) mayor was a member of MAIG. When confronted about it he said that he understood it to be a good thing - that they were trying to prevent the spread of guns in the hands of felons. He was incredulous when I told him that it was a gun-grabber group.

A few months later I spoke with him again. He agreed that they were grabbers - but not overtly so. I called him an idiot and he just shrugged his shoulders.
