Hagel Cloture votes Fails 57-43
Ace of Spades ^

Posted on 02/14/2013 1:55:43 PM PST by Perdogg

I'm getting this off Twitter, but @kerrypicket reported it.

Fox still has it underway.

I don't really understand how we know it's failed when people are still voting but then again I don't understand a lot of things, like Ashley Judd's visage bouffi.

"Failing cloture" would mean Hagel is blocked, as the vote cannot then proceed to an actual vote on the merits.

I'm gaining confidence in this report because McCain is talking all cocky and pointing out the Democrats filibustered John Tower in 1989.

Obama is going to recess-appoint him.

Whether the Senate is in recess, or not...

Same with Brennan. I would argue that it’s more important to keep Brennan (a converted muslim, so I hear) out of the CIA, than it is to keep Hagel out of Defense...

Reid killed this himself. He knew that Hagel would just continue to be a dead weight.

I absolutely LOATHE Reid..

He’s now using scare tactics “I hope something bad doesn’t happen & we’re w/out a SOD”

Going to set new vote for Tues a.m., which I’m sure the ball less GOP will cave & vote for cloture. In the meantime, the media have their talking points for the weekend..unprecedented, obstructionist etc..
Don’t the Pubs ever learn??!!! Arghh

HAGEL rumor heard today as to how HAGEL bought SECDEF nomination .APPARENTLY HAGEL owns /associated with a company that sold / provided 38 states electronic voting machines. The kind that tabulated 100% Obama results and/or 124-150% voter turnouts.

Not bitter, just curious. Had a troll dose earlier this afternoon.

My crystal ball says that a week from this Tuesday, the GOP will fold.

Anyone that does fold, should have a sign placed on their chest that reads, “Do Not Resuscitate”.... politically speaking.

Hagel doesn’t bother me. On the other hand, I think the Republican senators need to fight the Brennan confirmation to the bitter end.

Johanns is only voting for him because he is a Nebraskan. We turned out Nelson, Kerry and rino Hagel because they are not good for Nebraska or the country but Johanns puts state affiliation first.

If he passes cloture, and they will keep trying until he does

He didn't pass cloture and I don't think they'll try again. No one likes Hagel.

Ted Cruz says this just extends the debate on his nomination (technically, I guess)

“I hope something bad doesn’t happen & we’re w/out a SOD”

We're going on 5 years without a President. Does that bother Reid?

Interesting take and, especially since Cruz is on such a roll lately, I shouldn't disagree. I just don't smell much enthusiasm from the Dems for Hagel, either.

Yeah, they're going through the motions, but their hearts don't seem to be in it. But, then, I just credited Dems with having hearts, so what do I know?
