‘Big Bad Gun Lobby’ Turns Out to Be Big and Bad, After All

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- The Left is not happy at all with Gun Owners of America:

“It’s people like [Erich] Pratt who could derail even modest efforts to bring a modicum of sanity to the nation’s gun laws,” said The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart on January 16, 2013.

And then there were the insults that CNN’s Piers Morgan threw at GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt when Morgan ran out of arguments — even calling him an “idiot” and “incredibly stupid.”

The Left is scared that their hopes for greater gun control may fall short. They are scared that history is going to repeat itself.

Remember the battle in 2004 when we fought the renewal of Feinstein’s semi-auto ban? The media mourned that:

“GOA’s lobbying probably torpedoed the best chance for [renewing the semi-auto ban] this year.” (National Journal, July 17, 2004).

It’s been almost ten years since we won that battle. And it’s been even longer since GOA stood alone after the Columbine tragedy -- drawing a line in the sand – and told Congress that gun owners would accept NOT ONE WORD of gun control.

Now, here we are in 2013 — and the anti-gunners are hysterical. They are worried that their attempts to get stricter gun laws this year are about to slip through their fingers.

For us, this is all good news. But let us make this perfectly clear: THE BATTLE IS NOT WON YET.

And we have to continue to pound, pound, pound — just as we have done over the past two months.

Is there really anyone left in America who isn’t utterly sick and tired of CNN and the outdated and out-of-touch Washington Post?

We just learned last night that the Democrats in New Jersey wants us to get our Firearms cards renewed every 5 years and not only will the gun owner have to go through a Psychiatric evaluation, everyone in the home must get a psych check as well.

You betcha there is. There is no shortage of tyrants, would-be tyrants, petty tyrants, do-gooders, and assorted dimwits who enable tyrants, would-be tyrants, petty tyrants and do-gooders.

My sense is that well over half of the people in the US would willingly trade freedom for (a promise of) security.

Ruger has set up a easy link to let all of your elected Reps know how you feel. It works! I have received letters from all of my Reps that it was sent to. 4.8 million and counting have used this easy tool.

http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/

Please take a minute and use it.

Also calls are very important.

ACTION PLAN (from Tom Gresham)

So, what do we do? I’ve always believed that we ultimately win the gun culture war by showing the public that firearms ownership is normal, safe, and that we gun owners are responsible neighbors. That’s still my belief, but we don’t have time for that right now. This new group of gun banners (Hey, Obama’s chief of staff was the gun control point man for Bill Clinton!) are going to move quickly.

How can we fight it? Simple. We scare them. I don’t really care if they respect us as long as they fear us. I’m talking about putting those elected folks in fear for their careers. There are enough elected Democrats in Congress that can be defeated if they vote for gun bans to stop this movement.

How do we do that? I can come up with only one way. We have to double, then triple, the membership in the NRA. Please, don’t bore me with the “But the NRA sends me too much mail.” Look, you’re in or you’re out. If you are out, you are part of the problem. If you are in, you are part of the solution. Get off your butt and join. Buy memberships for all the members of your family.

Join the GOA, the NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation.

NO UNIVERSAL BACKROUND CHECK! Period end of story.
NO LIMITS ON MAG CAPACITY! Period end of story.

Be polite, be firm and stress if they vote for any new gun laws you will work to make them unemployed.

Security? Thugs would rule without restraint - some of whom would be government officials.

everyone in the home must get a psych check as well.

Wasn't there a study recently that said 1 in 5 Americans has a psychological problem? If there isn't now, there certainly will be after they pass the gun grabbing laws.

A few months ago, I came to the same conclusion. This is the ONLY strategy that will work. Putting aside for a moment the absolute meaning of "shall NOT infringe" -- you cannot compromise with people who have no desire to compromise. The only solution is to make them afraid to open their mouths. Since logic and reason don't work on leftists, we must adopt the tactic they use on RINOs and GOPe -- and browbeat them into silence.

“...that said 1 in 5 Americans has a psychological problem?”

How many of these so-called psychological problems are nothing more than a maladjusted character? Something that could have been fixed at an early age by teaching self reliance and individual responsibility instead of victimhood, deflecting blame, coupled with an artificially inflated perception of self esteem?

Psychological (read emotional) problems are in large part (not the clinical/physiological variety) the direct result of applying emotion to life as opposed to applying objectivity. The difference between living on snack food versus a balanced menu. How many folk will be rolled under the rubric of “emotionally troubled” (when in reality they are simply undisciplined), and be barred from exercising their Second Amendment right?

The lab coat will help bring tyranny.

I jokingly told a coworker that if they could, they would like to pass a law the says that you can't own a firearm if you are mentally unstable and only mentally unstable people want a firearm.
Question: Do you want a firearm?

I hate these firearms owners that are willing to capitulate on things like magazine capacity.

I keep telling them, accept no new conditions of ownership PERIOD!!

We have had great success restoring our rights (Castle law,CHL,Heller vs DC)

We should not back down, we should step forward, get in their face.

LET’S ROLL!

I’m completely with you on that. NO new conditions at all.

Universal Checks = Registration = Confiscation (lacking only an emergency declaration)

I won’t register, I won’t comply and I won’t surrender anything.

How about NO conditions like it was prior to 1968? How about NO background check? Do they do a background check before you vote? nope. Do they do a background check before you're allowed to write drivel for the wa compost? Nope. (although I do think you have to pass an IQ test by getting less than 80.) Do you have to have a background check to go to church? Nope. If the government has to grant you permission to do something, then that something is NOT a right. You don't have to ask permission to exercise a right.

We are in complete agreement. Logic doesn't work and it is past time we adopt the left’s tactics. I have seen several success stories where Patriots are doing such in city council meetings etc and having good results.

All - please spread the links around as much as you can. We need all to fight for the Second Amendment NOW!

I completely agree. However, we are now left with what stands on the books, fighting to keep more injustice from becoming law. Forestalling new infringements gives a new impetus to erasing all the prior infringements.

Personally, I think all this will backfire on them big time.

There’s a reason why there are over a million backlog on Magazines, why you cannot find an AR platform (complete, or kit) anywhere. Why you can’t find most any hi capacity platform bigger than a 22. Likewise for ammunition unless you’ve gone wimp and settled for 40 S&W (about all that’s left at WalMart) instead of 45 ACP or larger. This doesn’t sound like a bunch of people who will be ready to turn in all that under some new law these oppressors are dreaming about. Sounds more like Molon Labe to me.

I think they’ve opened up a can of shit so steeped in beligerant resolve, they will wish they hadn’t gone down this road they seek to travel. I don’t care if the DHS has 2 billion rounds...we have more.

If we can limit the number of rounds in a firearm magazine, we can limit the number of pages in a Hustler magazine. The same specious utilitarian logic that applies to the first also applies to the second.

I hope so too, but I can't shake the feeling that this whole thing about guns is a smoke screen for something worse, like more spending or enforcing domestic laws with drone strikes. I'm sure they'd love to get all of their idiotic ideas passed, but I suspect they know it's an uphill battle. And if conservatives are concentrating on that, maybe they think that something else can slip in under the radar

Or maybe 0bama is so arrogant, egotistical and narcissistic that he thinks the country should fall down and give him everything he wants. What am I saying "if" - of course he is.
