FBI investigating allegations Sen. Menendez patronized prostitutes in Dominican Republic
Washington Post ^ | February 15, 2013 | Carol D. Leonnig and Peter Wallsten

A team of FBI agents has been conducting interviews in recent weeks in the Dominican Republic and the United States, looking into allegations that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) patronized prostitutes in the Caribbean nation, but has found no evidence to support the claim, according to two people familiar with the investigation.

One person said agents have asked about whether a Florida eye doctor — a close friend and major campaign donor to Menendez — provided the senator with prostitutes on vacations there. Another person said investigators are looking into allegations involving underage prostitutes and sex parties.

The two, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an active investigation, said FBI agents are following leads provided by an unknown tipster. In a series of e-mails with the FBI, the tipster alleged that the doctor, Salomon Melgen, had made prostitutes available to Menendez while he was staying at his friend’s resort home in the Dominican Republic. The tipster, in particular, mentioned young prostitutes and prostitution parties.

The FBI agents are also examining the role Menendez played in advocating for a port security contract in the Dominican Republic that would benefit Melgen, two people familiar with the case said.

WaPo suddenly discovers the Menendez scandal, but only after “two people familiar with the investigation” leak to WaPo a claim that FBI “has found no evidence to support the claim.” Very convenient for WaPo to have found officials eager to clear Menendez.

Shouldn't the Dominican authorities be investigating this? If there's a crime involved and it was committed in the Dominican Republic one would think that their police would have jurisdiction.

There may not be a crime in that country, but it still a crime here for an American to travel abroad for the purposes of sex tourism (with a minor)

Hey. He’s a radical left wing extremist demokkkrat so that means no harm no foul. He’ll say he has a problem and will seek help and everybody will LOVE him all over again. Typical scenario. Depends on what the meaning of “is” is. Besides, “What difference does it make now?” Dissssss-gusting pigs.

a quick web search for “Salomon Melgen” pulled up some interesting links. From Palm Beach Post dot com:

“Menendez, who has received more than $700,000 in direct and indirect campaign help from Melgen and has made personal trips to the Dominican Republic on Melgen’s private plane, acknowledged last week that his office contacted CMS and “raised concerns” about billing policies in 2009 and 2012. But Menendez denied trying to intervene with government regulators on Melgen’s behalf.” Melgen also sold some kind of data mining tech company “Seisint” to LexisNexis for 775 million, supposedly to help catch terrorists. The honeypot scheme is an old trick used to help blackmail politicians. I wonder if Menendez DID use Colombian prostitutes. I wonder if those hookers were underage, and if they were all indeed female. That’s an old used trick especially by Mossad types. There’s a lot more to this than just Menendez visiting some hookers in Colombia.

“The honeypot scheme is an old trick used to help blackmail politicians.”

That is so dangerous! JFK was the worst sucker for honey pots (mafia, KGB, even Marilyn Monroe might have been one), although he was also protected by the MSM same as Barry is.

They'd fight this investigation tooth and nail if there was any possibility Menendez would be implicated. This tells me that any loose ends have already been tied up (killed?). There's no paper trail, no credible witnesses, no photos or recordings.

I mean, this is illegal activity - did you expect to find signed checks?

Lol.

Shouldn’t the Dominican authorities be investigating this?

The entire country of DR is run by a cabal of crooks who own their own condos at the same resort.

They should have sent the Secret Service. Then they would have found the prostitutes.
