A homeowner fatally shot a man as he climbed through a window and into his home Monday afternoon, Dallas police say.

The shooting took place at a home on the 2200 block of Morrell Avenue at about 4:15 p.m.

Police said the homeowner heard a noise inside his residence and shot a man, later identified as 33-year-old Deyfon Pipkins, aka BJ, as he climbed through the window.

"The homeowner heard a noise. He came around the corner, saw the individual trying to climb into the window and according to the law, the castle doctrine, he used deadly force," said Sgt. Calvin Johnson, with the Dallas Police Department.

His mother was not surprised when she learned of his death.

Dudz:

Note that the Constitution does not promote burglary; nor property owner property protection (much less personal protection). FOAD.

>>His mother was not surprised when she learned of his death.<<

I have come to like the new show “Monday Mornings” but they had a plotline where a gang member’s mom resents the Dr. who used his organs to save 6 people. She slapped the Dr. but he was scum, born and raised as scum, and caused untold pain on an untold number of people.

Some people are only at their best when they are dead.

The only better ending to this story is if the burglar was parted out to help people.

For me:

I have already made it clear that all my parts are good to go to a good home (I suspect my liver won’t have a long line). I have BEGGED my wife to get me a pine box like in the old days since I want them to fire me up (no way will she host my desired wienie/marshmallow roast). Top dollar for my coffin: $150.

“Deyfon Pipkins has spent a lot of time in the Dallas County jail over the past decade, having been arrested a half dozen times on theft charges since 2003.”

Six offenses in 10 years, and he is still on the street? I think I am seeing an underlying problem here.

Now it sounds like he'll be under the street, six feet.

Nope. It was just the aka that made me LOL and lose my train of thought. Usually, there is SOME continuity to a nickname, but that was just a series WTF moment.

Yeah, but it took seven times for him to get there.

Oh well, better late than never.

I have already made it clear that all my parts are good to go to a good home

My daughter must have had noble thoughts too, after being pressured within hours of her husband's death to donate his body parts, she was horrified that they couldn't have an open casket funeral for him afterwards because his facial skin had been peeled to donate to others.

It changed my mind about donating parts, her's too.

I bet there’s lots of money in the ‘healthy organs’ business - - for everybody except the people who donate, I mean.

>>It changed my mind about donating parts, her’s too.<<

Frankly no one need gaze on my postmortem visage. I saw my grandfather, my grandmother and my Dad and, frankly, I had no idea who those people in those boxes were. They looked not at all like the people I knew in life.

When the time came to say goodbye to my Mom, I wimped. It was more important to me to see her in my mind’s eye as alive and vibrant than asleep for eternity. I will never know if that was the right decision. One puts one’s stake in the ground and does what one feels what one must.

I am not joking. When I am called from the mortal coil, this shell is meaningless. If it can provide life or a better life then THAT is the best legacy I can leave.

$150 box — Irish whiskey toasts, stories of my strange and colorful life... Who could ask for anything more?

Part me out like a ‘67 Mustang, baby. Closed casket with the knowledge I did some good. Then BBQ me — a few ashes with my wife’s family (who I adore), some to be near my mom.

BIG BUCKS for the wake! The interment itself? Who cares?

:)
