A 25-year-old father opened fire on three armed intruders, who kicked open his door in the middle of the night Sunday, killing two in the process. Now he, his son, girlfriend and mother have relocated out of fear the third man will come back.
The front door, where one suspect was killed.
The incident happened around 3:30 in the morning when the trio kicked in the front door. The young father told the local CBS affiliate that it sounded like a car running into the side of the house. The crash woke him and his two-year old son, who was sleeping next to him, up. The father then grabbed his gun, which was located nearby, and when he saw the armed intruders, opened fire.
One suspect fell dead inside the house while the other collapsed in the front lawn. The third suspect fled on foot as the father dialed 911.
The Prince Edward County Sheriffs deputies that responded to the 911 call used dogs to search for the third suspect, the Richmond Times Dispatch reports, and were able to track the suspect to a highway, where they believe he fled in a vehicle.
The two men killed by the homeowner are still being identified, and the third man has yet to be found.

that’s two and maybe three that won’t be breaking and entering any more.
Another sad, tragic case of gun violence to send to the Obama campaign or whatever that group was called
(Liberal person with hands clasped together near cheek) “Oh, when will this violence end?”
“One suspect fell dead inside the house while the other collapsed in the front lawn. The third suspect fled on foot as the father dialed 911.”
If he had an AR-15 and a 30 round magazine, he might have gotten all three!
One got away, because the home owner did not have a high-capacity magazine.
No need. He wont come back. He got the message loud and clear.
I am growing cynical in my old age. When I read the story my first thought was, "Wow, I wonder how much drug money this young father owed that gang?" I really wish these stories had more information, although I realize that's not possible right away.

I hope the flooring was tile. It’d be tragic to have to lay new carpet.
"It is believed that the [surviving]suspect, described only as a black male, got into a vehicle on Route 460."
GatesofVienna speculated about the suspect's race in this incident as well.
ff to 0:57 in WTVR.com video to hear victim statement and confirm homeowners race
Two out of three ain't bad.
Meatloaf Two out of three ain
I bet thee third criminal won’t be showing up at the funerals of his buddies.
Just missed the ol’ hat trick. :>)
That’s funny right there.
More likely "moronic"...
Huh... Why do you say that, you scumbag?
Just wondering...
“Wow, I wonder how much drug money this young father owed that gang?”
I’m sure it is different in various parts of the country - but that is what I thought too. In our area most of the break-ins are during the day and they are looking not looking for confrontation. However, even if the dad DID owe drug money, etc. - glad he took care of business and took the two out that broke in. Gangs/drugs might also be more of a motivation to leave his home as well.
Too bad he didn’t get the guy running away. Although in Virginia that may be frowned upon.
