LAS VEGAS -- A man killed in a shooting and fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip early Thursday morning was a rapper who previously lived in Oakland, a family member said.

Ken Cherry, 27, who rapped under the name Kenny Clutch, was shot by someone in a black Range Rover about 4:20 a.m. as he drove on Las Vegas Boulevard. After he was shot, Cherry rapidly accelerated his gray Maserati down Las Vegas Boulevard and through a red light before striking a cab at the intersection of Flamingo Road.

The cab burst into flames, and the cabdriver and a passenger were both killed. Six others were injured, police said.

The crumpled gray Maserati, which had no license plate, came to rest several feet away from the incinerated taxi. Cherry was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

I am just shocked at how all of this is turning out. Who knew that an aspiring rap star could be involved in such events?

I’m thinking that Kristin “Maserati” Bender has a fascination with foreign sports cars, because, although the Maserati seems completely incidental to the story, the Maserati gets mentioned pretty obsessively.

Aspiring rappers probably have a rough time getting life insurance.

Standard, boilerplate comment from an auntie...

“I can tell you this ... the world has lost a good man,” Sims said. “I’m not saying he didn’t have his faults, but he was very kind, especially to older people...”

FINALLY some news comes out about this.

The media were certainly cagey all day yesterday, the ONLY thing we kept hearing was it “may have started as an argument in The Aria.”

I figured it was akin to the Tupac car to car shooting(s) that happened a number of years ago.

So sorry for the taxi driver and his passenger who were killed in this stupid shooting.

Vegas has become a dangerous place, even in the so-called “nicer” areas of the strip.

That headline is really something. It looks like the Maserati was either the victim or the shooter. (Do Maseratis back-fire, or do they fire back?)

Yes, they are usually such easy going, law abiding individuals not prone to violence or harsh words.

..hip. All the “cool” people seem to like the idea of pushing it down our collective throats. I guess Rock and Roll was getting to be too much like real music, so we needed a downgrade.

How can an “aspiring rapper” afford a Maseratti? I need to change professions.

Rappers are weapons of war and no law abiding person has a need for them.

Maserattis on the other hand should be added to medicare as a necessary medical aid for disabled veterans like myself.

No license plates on the Maserati or the Range Rover..maybe its time to step up the enforcement of this basic aspect of traffic law.

I wonder how far down the public highway I would get with “no license tags” on my Hyundai??? I guess the LVPD or NHP not be profiling these days.
