One of the many layers of the gun control debate is whether or not companies should treat government agencies differently than they treat the general public. A handful of companies have stood up, like LaRue Tactical, Olympic Arms, Cheaper Than Dirt and many others, saying that if they’re not allowed to sell their products on the commercial market, they will not serve local government.
This has kicked off a grass roots campaign that is calling for other companies, small and large, to follow suit. Some of the emails, naturally, come off angry and demanding, and the companies are dealing with a lot of it.
Things went sour Monday when an ArmaLite employee sent a frustrated reply to one such email. “First of all I would like to say thank you for filling my email with all this spam email … You need to convince the law enforcement agencies and the common people about their mistake in electing these officials and have them removed,” signed, Pat Raley, master armorer and sales representative.
In effect saying ArmaLite has no problems selling guns to law enforcement, government agencies and the like, no matter what the laws of the land are.
This was in stark contrast with their previous position, which was that ArmaLite would not sell to agencies what was prohibited to the people, as is the case with ArmaLite’s Chicago and California sales — that is to say, lack of sales.
Sensing danger, ArmaLite president Mark Westrom responded to the impending wave of angry calls and emails.

This tells me they just don't get it.
A goal is to have the serving police officer go to their chain of command and tell them they cannot get the tools they need to do their jobs BECAUSE OF THE STUPID LAWS YOU HAVE ENACTED!
Besides, they can't tell me that all of these departments don't already have all the weapons they need.
Witholding ammo from them, now - that'll hurt.
I have an ArmaLite AR-180 I just cleaned it with Ballistol. It was made in Sterling England. Hope to take to the range in a couple of days and put a few rounds through it. I bought it in the late 80’s. The 5.56 ammo is hard to find and expensive so I will not be blasting away, just making sure it is still sighted in. Saving the rest of my ammo for when it is really needed.
Concur. The point is that if the citizen can’t be trusted with a weapon, then neither can the police. We are not lesser beings.
I can’t click the link from htis computer but I’ll check it out. I’m currently looking into a PTR HK91 clone. Heard anything bad about them?
I’ve had a PTR91 and have a Hesse hk91 clone. Both get the job done, quite well. They eat anything I’ve ever put in them both Mil-Spec and cheap Russian crap. Fit and finish on PTR is better since its much newer.

Well said. They govern and enforce laws per our consent. They cannot claim any power we do not grant them, and by extension have ourselves.
I figure that these boycotts of government sales are only done by companies that don’t sell modern fully automatic rifles.
My personal view is that private ownership of fully automatic/crew served weapons should not be infringed or restricted. Certainly the Constitution envisioned private ownership of crew served weapons, per the Letters of Marque and Reprisal clause, and the Second Amendment would codify that the right to such arms shall not be infringed.
The Naval Militia (mentioned in Title 10 Section 311, iirc) was a major force in the Revolution, with privateers radically increasing Britian’s cost of continuing the war against the American colonies and later the United States.
they seem nice and the manufacturer backs up their parts with a lifetimne warranty too. For the price, how can you go wrong? Was the brass any kind of reloadable after firing Bigpapa?
Only LC headstamped brass was ok for reloads. Winchester and federal 308, not so much. Decent size dings in the case on almost all the non-milsurp rounds.
Good full length dies for resizing and factory crimp are required. IMO anyway.
that’s about what I figured. I have always loved the HK91 but its reputation for tearing up brass forced me to go with the Armalite AR10 when it was time to lay down the money. I just freaking want one now though so I’m gonna bid on a PTR. I can’t say no to the price and the warranty.
