Well yes, if you were making big money and reached the limit on SS taxes every year (about one hundred thousand by now I think) you stopped paying for the year, and at the beginning of the next year your taxes jumped back up to the seven percent again - but even those not making that much had a decrease of two percent on all they were paying for the last few years as part of Obama’s stimulus - at least back then he understood that leaving money in the hands of the people would get the economy moving - that decrease stopped automatically the first of this year - and even though Obama’s crowing about how he helped save the tax cuts for the middle class, he has never said a word about that return of the two percent, and loss of two percent take home pay, for that same middle class - one of his many dirty little secrets......

1. July 14th, 2008: Bush lifts presidential moratorium on Outer Continental Shelf exploration.

2. Regular gas price drops to $3.65 by September 8, (an 11% drop), then rebounds to $3.84 the following week (down less than 7% from peak)

3. That same week in September, 2008 the financial crisis starts.

4. The price of gasoline drops 70% by the end of December due to a dramatic fall in demand caused by the financial crisis.

So don't tell me that President Bush did nothing about it.

I didn't say Bush did nothing about the price of gas. I said he did nothing about heading off the financial crisis that was building during his entire term. I guess that did help with the price of gas - temporarily.
