DENVER — In one sign of the price states may pay for restricting gun rights, more than a dozen states are jostling to land a Colorado firearms company that has vowed to leave the state if the governor signs into law tough gun-control legislation.
Elected officials from Alabama, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia have written letters to Magpul Industries inviting the company to make their states its relocation destination. Meanwhile, individuals from at least 10 states have launched social media campaigns on Facebook to lure the Erie, Colo.-based company.
“We are a state whose people are committed to Second Amendment rights. You can be assured that the Alabama Legislature would never seriously consider any legislation that would jeopardize your company and your workers,” Alabama Agriculture Secretary John McMillan said in a letter dated Tuesday.
Rep. Jeff Duncan, South Carolina Republican, emphasized in a letter Tuesday that, “In South Carolina, we believe in the right to keep and bear arms.
“At a time when our government is consistently thwarting the ability of individuals to own businesses, voluntarily trade goods and services, and grow our economy, South Carolina is committed to writing a different story,” Mr. Duncan said.

Fighting back is Rep. Cory Gardner, Colorado Republican, who was scheduled to tour Magpul on Thursday and invited the governor to join him. Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat, has not said whether he would sign the magazine-limit bill, although he has expressed general support for the concept.
“Magpul is threatening to leave our state, taking hundreds of jobs with it, as the direct result of gun-control legislation that is not even going to make us any safer,” Mr. Gardner said

In time, all the firearms manufacturers will locate in the South. Politically, it will become known as the “gun belt.”
Just the possibility that these gun control laws would pass in Colorado shows how much it has tilted to the left in such a short period of time. One of the premier gunsmithing colleges in the USA is in Colorado, and Colorado seems to be the go-to state for “reality” shows about guns.
I fear that he's just another Obama rubber-stamp, though.
The country is already at war, individuals arming themselves, government all armed up and stocked on ammo, drones, people buying ammo as fast as they can - what remains to be seen is who is buying the debt for this war. They will control the future.
California and New York City should be cut off and set adrift. They are not part of the US. Like Massachusetts and Maryland they spawn hordes of droids who emigrate to and take over states like Colorado and New Hampshire and New Jersey.
This is the wonderful genius of maintaing a United *States* instead of provinces or what not.

This from the guy who set up his family foundation to funnel money to the ruckus society? Does he ever take questions in a town hall? Whenever he's in the neighborhood it's to address the local rat coven. It's reported a few days later in the local rag, seldom before. I've wanted to ask him how a person that aligns with anarchy can justify taking a position in government. Maybe some day.

Colorado is doing everything short of begging me to pack up and relocate to Texas.
This is going to get good folks. When the reality of the Dem’s gun control sets in with the public in Colorado; they will boot the entire bunch out. People will stop and thin about the jobs that left over their politicals gun control games and they’ll be awful hot, I just luv it. Everybody all over America needs to start ignoring anti constitutional laws they enact. It would quickly become apparent that their king has no clothes. We need a little revolution, some tar & feathers right about now.

The reason why is that South Dakota is quietly woo’ing gun companies with far more effective policies than mere tax deals.
There’s a reason why companies like HS Precision, Corbon, Dakota, etc are locating in SD. And if you had a choice between the Black Hills and Texas... unless you think armadillos are “cuddly,” you’d locate in the Black Hills area too.
The Black Hills might be a little too white for some of us in the winter months. What’s the average temperature there on Valentine’s day?

I’d choose the Alamo if I had to chose only one thing equalling Texas. But fortunately, I don’t have to choose any ONE thing, because there’s so much, it’s overwhelming. Some, for example, would choose the Bluebonnet fields in spring, or the friendly and mostly God-fearing people and I could go on...
I’ve never been to SD but know a little about it. Not putting it down. Texans can be rather polite folks, too (but fighters when righteously riled). Point being, to make derisive remarks about SD wouldn’t be polite.
All right ya rowdy ruffians. I didn’t diss South Dakota and I sure as hell didn’t diss TEXAS! For the record, I cheer any State that welcomes firearms manufacturers.
Yes, it’s silly. Lighten up, dude. I have a personal issue with ‘dillos, because I nearly flipped a Toyota SUV after running one over in west Texas one spring night. Holy crap, they’re like hitting a freakin’ cinder block.
The central issue is that the state government of SD has passed legislation sheltering gun companies from civil litigation if their guns were used in acts of crime. To my knowledge, no other state can make the same claim - not even Wyoming here.
Oh, and the governor’s office has a task force specifically tasked with attracting gun companies to the state. They’re not just “gun friendly.” They’re actively recruiting - just as they recruited Corbon and HS Precision to the state.
Somewhere between 10 and 30F during the day, maybe as low as -20F at night in past years, but usually above zero.
Low temperatures and snow are how you keep the riff-raff out of an area. It works very well for us in Wyoming.
