What do you get when you invite outspoken conservative firebrand Ann Coulter to debate outspoken libertarian John Stossel in front of an audience of 1,000+ libertarian students?

Fireworks, that’s what.

On tonight’s episode of Fox Business Network’s Stossel, Coulter got into a heated debate with Stossel and the students over a variety of social issues, in the process calling libertarians "******s" and receiving lots of jeering for her remarks. "We’re living in a country that is 70-percent socialist, the government takes 60 percent of your money. They are taking care of your health care, of your pensions. They’re telling you who you can hire, what the regulations will be. And you want to suck up to your little liberal friends and say, ‘Oh, but we want to legalize pot.’

Too bad Coulter was Obama Supporter when it came to Eligibility. She was virulently pro Obama when attacking Birthers. I guess she is trying to make up for supporting Obama all these years

That is right...and if we had a fire brand like Gingrich or such, the votes could not have been screwed with because it would have been a much wider margin.

The RINO’s don’t have another act to bring on stage.

Very true. I saw this segment and, someone correct me if I’m wrong, the audience booed Lincoln’s actions to end slavery. A little disturbing. Slavery is A-OK, but being against gay marriage makes you a bigot!

We know that a large percentages of FReepers voted for Skeeter Obama in several various ways or stayed home and gloated and got stoned.

Keeping smoking that pot and snorting blow with Skeeter -

As the Obama economy contines to stomp you and yours and grab your assets, your futures, your liberties, and your rights - I am doing just fine and dandy now.....

Obama will end up like Mussolini and Hitler - and not because you prayed or were too pure to plan far ahead intelligently -

Ann Coulter doesn't tow the line for psuedo-libertarians who attack conservatives, of who they think O’Reilly is one, prove her right. She stood up alone to a bunch of know-nothing college kids and academics condemning her her for an ivy-league degree like William Buckley did and your biggest fear is her leg diameter. Anyone who compares heroin to booze is living in a fantasy world. Gay-marriage, prostitution, drugs, synchronized wife-beating, and the liberal cause de jour will hurt society and so we have laws for the non-angelic.

After reading some of the thread here, sorry, but I agree with Ann. I know her faults and I also agree with some of the Freepers here, but the reality of the situation is Ron Paul cost us a lot of votes. The Libertarians can't get off the pot smoking and rump riding marriage issues long enough to see that Obama will ruin the country for all of us. You can make fun of her skinny legs and some of the positions she takes, but on Libertarians, she's right, they are useless. I'm 61 now and for more than a few times in my life I have tried to be a Libertarian, but I just can't. If you think Iran needs a nuke and wouldn't put it in NY harbor first thing, you probably smoke too much weed. If you think stool pushers are equal to God fearing Christians, well, lets just say you don't understand the founding of our country and what they believed.

I hate to take up for Ann, but she right this time. Students that couldn't vote for Paul, most likely voted Obama or no vote at all. Young people are pretty much idiots that are Libertarians. It's basically dope smoking and pole suckers more than taxes and national defense. They call themselves libertarian because they can't stand the term, "Conservative".

One would think that, given Coulter’s writing ability, she could express herself without resorting to gutter language.

The title is a little misleading.....

They really didn’t BOO Coulter, their was a murmur of disapproval on certain points. Especially when Coulter addressed key Libertarian talking points and got in their face....

The students were respectful, which was more than I could say about Coulter. She inferred thay were all stoners and when challenged, stated they were not potheads just nerds....

Coulter long ago abandoned her ideals for a more pragmatic approach to politics.....

Not agreeing or disagreeing with this approach, just observing.....

and this is how the gop-e is driving a wedge between the conservatives and the small l libertarians....

focus on one issue, exploit it and cause anger..

small l libertarians and conservatives are natural allies, and agree with each other on as close to 100% of issues as any other...

but, the gop-e sees this, and has to keep us apart in order to keep control..

the man behind the curtain is not fubo, cuz we see him already..

the man behind the curtain is the gop-e..

I saw the segment as well. Coulter was Coulter - she made some great points, but in her extremely absurd style they were probably lost on most of those students.

More compelling was the segment with Justin Amash. He is VERY impressive and someone I believe can take the conservative message (a la with a libertarian bent) to young people.

“We’re living in a country that is 70-percent socialist, the government takes 60 percent of your money. They are taking care of your health care, of your pensions. They’re telling you who you can hire, what the regulations will be. And you want to suck up to your little liberal friends and say, ‘Oh, but we want to legalize pot.’ You know, if you’re a little more manly you would tell them what your position on employment discrimination is. How about that? But it’s always ‘We want to legalize pot.’”

She may have been wrong on Romney but she's right on target here.

OK, Photo Shop her into a Xena Warrior Princess Costume

Half horse, half stickman in a corset, blech, no thanks. She may be right on pot, but she's useless as far as Conservativism is concerned. Probably on Rove's anti-Tea Party advisory committee.

But here is the basic flaw in the libertarian dogma:

libertarians care so much about those social issues not only because the former is rife with injustice, wastefulness, and abuse, but because they serve as a litmus test of sorts, separating those who are serious about limited government from those who pick and choose when they want to be skeptical of government power.

Those who "pick and choose" do so because some issues are more important to the culture than others. Libertarians are too doctrinaire, applying rubrics rigidly to every case. One example: Rand Paul believing the Civil Rights Act should not apply to private businesses like lunch counters.

The desire to "pick and choose" is part of our humanity and our intelligence. "One size fits all" makes it unnecessary to think.

Ann showed she had no facts and could not hold a debate. It was not the Ann of the past. She could have done better just job. She miss many good points.
