A veteran New Jersey high school teacher from New York has been accused of contacting a student through Facebook and offering that student cash in exchange for sexual acts, prosecutors said.
Thomas Weir, a teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson, N.J., was arrested Saturday evening in the parking lot of a restaurant where he planned to meet the student, authorities said.
Weir, 50, was charged with attempted sexual assault, attempted endangering the welfare of a child and official misconduct, among other crimes. The Monticello, N.Y., resident has been employed by the Paterson Board of Education for more than two decades.
Prosecutors said Weir contacted the student through Facebook instant messaging and offered the student $50 for a sexual encounter.
Weir faces a maximum of 40 years in prison if convicted of all the counts against him. Bail had not been set as of Sunday evening.
It wasn't immediately clear if Weir had an attorney.
So the title, had it been written 20 years ago, might have read, "Gay Teacher" instead of "Veteran Teacher." It's amazing the contortions that media goes through to protect their sacred cows."
We will rue the day when, as society, we began assuming that the gay lifestyle was as normal as the straight lifestyle.

IF the gender of the victimized student is mentioned prominently, then the teacher is almost always heterosexual.
IF the gender of the victimized student is ostensibly left out, or (in your case) well-buried, then the teacher is almost always gay.

I think the problem with these gays is not “dark” meat but “young” meat.
Thanks to union rules, the mutt, will never teach students again but will keep his salary while remaining in the rubber room for the next 15 years. What a friggin’ society.

Yep, public school horror stories are a daily occurance in this country and nobody wants to talk about it
Not a day goes by anymore where some homo is not written up for molesting a young boy. For every male homo caught, another 99 are still hiding in their closet.
They don't want to lose their free, tax payer paid day care centers.
It's not like they expect the teachers union to actually teach academics. Those days are long gone. People are willing to take a chance the homos like this guy will choose someone elses kid.

I’ve learned to read the headlines and go back to the actual facts in spite of what the headlines say.
That guy would make a great Boy Scout Leader.
I know you’re being sarcastic but it’s not funny anyway. Our family has belong to scouts for the past seven years and it sickens me what the media tries to do to that wonderful organization.
Incidentally, my son just had his eagle conference last night with his scoutmaster.
