Today a Genoa-Kingston Middle School student’s parent is claiming that a teacher ordered his son to cover his US Marine themed t-shirt or be suspended. Dan McIntyre says that his son Michael has wore the shirt to school many times in the past and that he is a big fan of the branch of the US military.

Dan McIntyre says that, “A teacher noticed the guns on the shirt.” He went on to say that the teacher said there was a school policy against the image of a gun.

Michael complied when the teacher asked him to turn the shirt inside out. However, Dan says that his son was still reported to the schools principal.

Dan says that his son, “was really bothered by it. He talked to me after school about it. I said I would have supported whatever decision he made.”

My late father was a Marine in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. My 5th grade teacher was a Bataan Death March survivor and my 6th grade teacher had just returned from Vietnam where his hair turned pure white overnight. How they'd all have laughed at this story if they'd ever heard of it.

… a school policy against the image of a gun.

Zero tolerance = zero thought required.

I think they would have cried.
Teachers should be required to take a course in common sense.

This bears repeating as many times as necessary to convince conservatives to get their kids out of the government schools and rather to boycott them in every possible way.

The “public school”, including the “charter school”, is BY FAR, the largest, most expensive, most subversive, and most destructive entitlement program in the country.

The “public school” is better understood as the “government school collective”.

It is silly to imagine that you can fix the public schools, because the very concept itself is collectivist.

Any child that comes out of the government school collective with their moral compass and common sense intact does so in spite of the government school indoctrination, not because of it.

If you want to win the culture war, have lots of children (see my tagline) and homeschool them or form your own school cooperative with your church or synagogue and like-minded friends and relatives.

Nobody loves your children more than you do.

Nobody can teach your children better than you can.

Nobody knows your children better than you do.

Your children would love nothing better than to be taught by you, if you start doing so before they are corrupted by the government school collective.

It is hypocritical for you to submit your children to an authority with whom you fundamentally disagree. And your children will know it.

If you have children, make whatever sacrifices you must to get them out of the public schools.

DO NOT FEED THE BEAST!

Especially not with your own children.

And DO NOT TAKE GOVERNMENT “EDUCATION” MONEY!

He that pays the piper calls the tune, and that’s especially true for any government entitlement program.

Zero tolerance = zero thought required.

Precisely. It's all about liability and accountability. Administrators want neither. They'd rather eschew common sense than face the prospect of having to explain common sense in today's society.

Time to replace the school board and do away with zero tolerance rules.

Both Social Workers and Teachers are required to be leftists to graduate with a degree in those specialties. There may be other professions like that that I'm unfamiliar with. I was going to let the VA pay for my masters in Vocational Rehabilitation until I sniffed out what it meant. They've taken over.

My public high school mascot/team name was and is the “bombers” and there was a model of an Air Force B-58 inside the see-through bass drum of the marching band.

expose the teacher, what’s his name?....public photo?
I hate when stories ALWAYS delete the teachers name, they do this stealth thing, always protected, while the student’s name is out there....
I tried to find the teachers name.....failed

Stupid rule. As someone previously said, zero-tolerance allows them not to use logic.

I have a hard time believing that if the kid wore a Che shirt, with a gun on it, he would get the same treatment.

Numerous Marines died so that child could wear such a shirt. Now those who probably never put on a U.S. uniform are telling him he can wear the shirt.

I would not only have removed the kids shirt, I would have removed the kid wearing it and placed him in a school that understands the meaning of the First Amendment.

It is time we stand up to these stupid people with their self created rules taking away our freedoms. Enough is enough.

My daughter went to Jefferson Jr. H. S. (Naperville, IL). Their school symbol is a Continental Army soldier with a musket.

Take the suspension and tell the school admin to go to hell if they don’t like it. The schools certainly allow other TRULY offensive themes on T-shirts.

I completely agree. Talking heads can yammer on all day about needing more money for schools, but adding resources to that propaganda beast only strengthens its intensity. School districts across the country are dropping classes in civics and government, replacing then with soft, mushy humanities crap that has no value. What they're doing... IMO intentionally .... is creating a permanent class of dependent, low-information, big-government craving future voters. And no matter what, there's no slowing this train down.

... school policy against the image of a gun.

In view of all the shootings by people carrying images of guns, it's easy to understand why this would be a school policy.
