Jimmy Savile and the Cardinal: Britain's top Catholic cleric was friend of disgraced TV host (pedo)

Grinning and giving a thumbs-up, Britain’s most senior Catholic cleric poses with his friend, disgraced paedophile Jimmy Savile.

The snap, taken six years ago, emerged last night after Cardinal Keith O’Brien quit amid allegations of “inappropriate acts” towards fellow priests.

The photo was taken in Edinburgh in 2007 as fund-raiser Savile and the cardinal unveiled a £375,000 vehicle for the disabled.

The pair first met in the 70s, when O’Brien was a priest in Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire – and worked with a friend of Savile’s mum.

Another priest at Kilsyth at the time has been suspended following claims of abuse against two young victims.

It was Cardinal O’Brien who ordered the investigation last September.

When Savile’s vile secrets became known, the cardinal called for him to be stripped of his papal knighthood, awarded in 1990.

Cardinal O’Brien quit just 24 hours before he was due to fly to Rome to help choose the next pope.

“LONDON (AP) — Police investigating child sex abuse allegations against the late BBC television host Jimmy Savile arrested former glam rock star and convicted sex offender Gary Glitter on Sunday, British media reported, raising further questions about whether Savile was at the center of a broader pedophile ring.”

http://www.ibtimes.com/bbc-scandal-was-jimmy-savile-part-pedophile-ring-858407

“The new arrests lend weight to claims made by many of Savile’s alleged victims, who have maintained that the beloved TV personality was part of an organized “pedophile ring” — one that included other BBC staffers who shared his sexual interest in minors, as reported by the Evening Standard. Authorities believe abuse may have taken place over four decades and involved 200 possible victims.”

So the question is why did the Cardinal resign right before he was to leave to vote on a Pope.

Was it just because he was forewarned that this picture was coming out. Would just a picture cause him to resign???

Or is there more to the D-Notice Tony Blair story.

I guess we will have to wait and see if anything comes out.

Are you so sure??? They just didn’t suddenly come out an accuse the Cardinal did they? One allegation is from the 80’s. The Church knew NOTHING about this until last week????

Or is this something that is orchestrated by one faction of the Church as the vote looms near.

I don’t know which side that Cardinal is on. Bertrone or Sodano.

If factual, this might offer insight as to why O'Brien will not be casting a vote for the new pope: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d4eANuMXd8

The Sunday Times did ,in fact, get leaked the entire list of UK subscribers to child porn sites with over 7000 names -among them an official with the Church Of England.

I think there is a good chance that Blair did issue a D notice.

I have looked around to see what kind of info is out there and most of it is on sites of people talking about this and some articles of people being arrested. Such as that one guy from the band that I listed.

This reminds me of The Franklin Cover Up.

That photo looks Photoshopped. I don’t have a dog in this fight, but something is “off” (aside from the subject matter) in the picture.

It gets worse. Mark Thompson was head of the BBC just before all this broke and was allegedly informed of the pending scandal and did nothing.

So where is Thompson now?

He’s running the New York Times.

Thank you for posting that. I am very hard on the Pope because I think he knew about and hid abuse in his former job with the Church.

But if it turns out that it looks like he did fall on the sword to rip the rug out from under the nightmare then I will have to praise him.

I will say again, this reminds me of The Franklin Cover Up.

And to repeat the words of the dead former CIA director:

“What you have to understand, John, is that sometimes there are forces and events too big, too powerful, with so much at stake for other people or institutions, that you cannot do anything about them, no matter how evil or wrong they are and no matter how dedicated or sincere you are or how much evidence you have. This is simply one of the hard facts of life you have to face.”

Maybe it takes a Pope resigning to clear the evil from the Church.

Btw, just as important and hard to control is the money laundering at the Vatican Bank.

Benedict is scheduled to meet with his cardinals regarding the the report on Vatileak either today or tomorrow. It is said that the report includes high level members of the church who were having "gay parties" with other priest.

I suspect this cardinal was one of them. Mahoney the last cardinal from Southern California is another that has lost his right to vote for the new pope. It wouldn't surprist me if his name was included too.

http://blog.gaycatholicpriests.org/category/priests-in-trouble/

“O’Brien’s recusal is also important as a precedent,” said Terence McKiernan, of BishopAccountability.org, a U.S.-based documentation center on child abuse by priests.

“Many cardinals scheduled to join the conclave have been involved as bishops in handling cases of clergy sexual abuse, and some of them have done such a bad job that they too should recuse themselves from the conclave,” he said.”

I don’t know how many Cardinals there are or how this would sway the vote but I have to guess that there is a lot of political manuevering going on.

i’m all for whatever they do to bring a stop to the tacit acceptance of child molestation that they had in place previously, but I’m not willing to make any conclusions about what is going on that is causing this unprecedented purge of senior clerics. I think it will take a long time to find out who was covering up what, and how much change will be needed to correct it.

I think the forty years of legalized abortion has contributed to the development of the predatory priest. So for the Church to upright itself completely, abortion must also end (see my tagline).

God Bless Pope Benedict, our cardinals, bishops, and priests.

P.S. I look forward to your "papal praise" should that time come. :)

The Pope was not clean enough to go after the gay mafia and it’s power structure in the Church. He was a part of the supervisory policy of cover up and denial power structure in the past.

However, I think he came to see just how evil that church policy was and how much damage it has done to the church and resigned so someone clean can come forward to take it on and get rid of it. I hope this is true. I pray the church can clean it out and reconnect with the holy spirit for a revival in Christ.

As this darkness has infilitrated the church and poisoned everyone around it. The worship of a pretend mary god has replaced the worship and powerful and redemptive spirit and mind of Jesus. I was raised as a Catholic, by the way. Like all normal Catholics, I want the church back from the dark side. We need it in the state of the modern evil world to be clean...a power of Christ.
