I keep saying... the entire Bush family are secret agents of the Democrats sent to destroy the Republican Party from within. Looks like they are succeeding.

a position that amounts to a direct challenge to Speaker John A. Boehner

TWO house members is a direct challenge to Boehner? This list is a bunch of has-been alos-ran self-described Republicans already well-known for their trouble-making-ways and liberal views.

Among them are Meg Whitman, who supported Proposition 8 when she ran for California governor; Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida and Richard Hanna of New York; Stephen J. Hadley, a Bush national security adviser; Carlos Gutierrez, a commerce secretary to Mr. Bush; James B. Comey, a top Bush Justice Department official; David A. Stockman, President Ronald Reagan’s first budget director; and Deborah Pryce, a former member of the House Republican leadership from Ohio who is retired from Congress.

For >3% of the population, the Nation willingly goes down the dumper to accommodate their perversions. It’s all but over.

Why not focus on protecting actual Rights in the Constitution, like the Right to keep and bear arms (which shall not be infringed)?

What a concept that would be!

The GOP is going the way of The Whigs.

No guts, no glory, no principle.

If I want a social democratic party, I’ll vote for the Democrats.

Quite frankly, who needs a degenerate GOP?

Read the list—Meg Whitman? These are the same old recycled liberal Republicans who are "former" because they couldn't win elections. And this amicus was apparently too extreme for Laura Bush, and even Colin Powell, who didn't sign it.

Ted Olson is the only one of the group who I didn't think was a liberal until he took the case for the Prop 8 haters to begin with. Pray for him in his confusion.

It seems to me that if the Feds have the right to overturn state law on marriage, they have the right to overturn state law on anything.

The only surprise on the list (well, not really) is Meg Whitman. The rest of them are the Usual Suspects.

BTW, from now on I am going to disregard all future emanations from any politician that claims "my opinion has evolved." "My opinion has evolved" is weasel code for "I'm compromising my principles for money and power!" (or, just as likely, "I never agreed with you rednecks to begin with but I had to play along to get elected.")

Sodomites are an abomination. Sodomite “marriage” is even worse, if that is possible.

There is a world of hurt coming on this nation and any nation that glorifies sin. Nations cannot be punished in the next life. They will be punished now by God’s incontrovertible truth.

The sodomite is radically “disorganized”. See Romans 1. He won’t be content with “marriage”. He will want payback in an extreme way against normal people, because the sodomites are “filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, MALICIOUSNESS, full of envy, MURDER, debate, DECEIT, MALIGNITY, whisperers, BACKBITERS, HATERS OF GOD, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, COVENANTBREAKERS, WITHOUT NATURAL AFFECTiON, implacable, UNMERCIFUL.” (Romans 1:29-31)

The worst is yet to come.

to all who cannot or will not become friendly with the libertarians because it is said they support abortion, gay marriage, or whatever else...

the pubs are not even fighting abortion in fubocare, yet their platform is anti abortion..

the pubs are not even fighting gay marriage, yet their platform is pro traditional marriage...

the pubs are caving on immigration, yet their platform is against it...

beginning to see a pattern??
you are being lied to, and buying into it lock, stock and barrel...

So are there any policy items now that are different between the republicans and democrats?

“But the presence of so many well-known former officials — including Christine Todd Whitman, former governor of New Jersey..”

Not a surprise, nor the presence of so many Bush people.

This is just one more reason why we need a third political party or a Republican Party willing and able to PURGE itself of individuals who do NOT reflect the opinions of most of their constituency or the majority of Americans.

We are step by step demonstrating we are diverting our paths from that of the God who founded, nourished and protected us in years gone by. And that God is a jealous God who punishes the transgressor as well as rewards his followers.

I am disgusted at this abomination.

We at FR need to contemplate what party other than GOP we can join and rally to a successful election winner. Independent? Hmmmmm, no. Any ideas, anyone? How about the ‘Founders’ party or.. ??

More than 60,000,000 Republicans voted for Romney in the most recent election and did not sign this petition. Dozens signed the petition. The dozens are newsworthy, and the fact that the vast majority of republicans will not pretend that a gay “marriage” has any connection with the real thing is not even mentioned.
