Ignoring American History

In times of trouble, I always look to those wiser and stronger then I for guidance.  I look to those who, when faced with hardship, found a way to overcome.

Benjamin Franklin- “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Patrick Henry- “I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!

"We are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Chickens make me happy---“Jase Robertson- Duck Dynasty

The problems that America is facing today have been caused because those on the liberal left have forgotten their own American history. They have forgotten why this country was originally founded; to escape a land of persecution for your faith, unfair taxation without representation, and a government that chose only a select few businesses to thrive.  Sound familiar?

They have forgotten August 1, 1946 in Athens TN where 300 GI’s just back from defending their country in WWII had to literally take arms to fight a corrupt political family which had taken over the local government and its elections.

They have forgotten Korea Town in 1992 during the LA Riots, when it took a full 24 hours until the National Guard arrived to help the Korean businessmen who had to use their guns to protect their stores and their families from those who were rioting in the streets.

And while they have not forgotten to blame George W. Bush, they have forgotten about the citizens who had defend themselves in the wake of Katrina when the corrupt police force ran away from or even turned on its own residents.

Now, let me tell you what we have not forgotten.

We have not forgotten what it feels like the day our child is born and each of us parents make the silent vow too do everything we can to protect them and keep them safe.

We have not forgotten the images of those in the Sudan, Rwanda and Bosnia who were slaughtered when their government went corrupt and they had no way to protect themselves.

We have not forgotten how it all started with the initial push to make things fair and politically correct. However, now our country has allowed the birth of Christ to be erased from public celebration, no Ten Commandments in the Courthouse, and most importantly, the eradication of a Christian God from our public schools.

We have not forgotten the disappointment we feel every time we learn that someone we worked hard for on the campaign trail has betrayed us in order to gain favor in the eyes of leadership or special interest groups.

Actually I don’t think those on the left who keep chipping away at our rights have forgotten history.   In fact, I almost wish that were the case.   Because I fear it is not that they forget history, rather it is because they choose to ignore history.

They choose to ignore the millions of Americans who believe in the rights given to us by the wise men at the Constitutional Convention when they wrote the Bill of Rights.

They choose to ignore the facts that prove their justification of gun control wrong. They choose to ignore those of us law abiding citizens who honestly just want the ability to defend our home and family.

Everyday, the momentum is growing across this great country and people are using their voice, talent and resources to encourage elected officials at every level of government to vote with honest convictions and principles like the Founding Fathers would have wanted them to.  This message is becoming unified. It is not only being sent to those liberals and Independents in office, but also to those Republicans who are all too often cowering down to this administration and its anti-American agenda.

This message is one that cannot be ignored because if those in office choose to ignore the voice of the American people then, I assure you, the American people will choose to ignore them the next time at the ballot box.

Were something akin to the Athens, Tn incident to occur today the governor would send the National Guard, the FBI anti-terrorism task force would arrive and both state and federal Departments of homeland Security would dispatch SWAT type units and an army of investigators. The persons who confronted the corrupt politicians would be indicted probably in both state and federal courts and be described as terrorists in all the news media. The Sec. of Homeland Security would use the event to underline how dangerous combat veterans are and demand general civilian disarmament which the President would emphatically support. Times change and not for the better.

What you say is undoubtedly true. We have far more layers of law enforcement than we had in 1946. The local officials would have called the governor’s office and without hours helicopters would have been arriving to put down the “riot.”

The likelihood of there being significant numbers of survivors, or indeed any survivors to indict is low.

What is happening now is money and power to destroy America. Its intentional, in your face, and and so far successful.

I posted the following on another thread.

I recently posted a challenge on facebook. I asked if any high school students or recent college grads could answer the following questions:

1) Can you quote Nathan Hale?

2)Give the location and signifance of the Old North Church.

3) Give the location and signifance of Lexington and Concord.

I was not even surprised at the number of people that could not answer these simple questions about our history. Even my 50 year old daughter with a masters degree and a CPA and my 22 year old granddaughter with 2 degrees and is a conservative could not answer those questions.

A seventh grade teacher from Arizona replied that she could answer the questions but she is required by the state to teach U.S. history beginning with the civil war and ending with the great depression. I don't know if every state has the same requirements.

It finally dawned on me why they teach U.S. history that way.

The evil white slaveowners were defeated and the evil white capitalists caused the great depression. Therefore the thing that is bad about America is the evil white man.

The reason that patriots are losing the war against Obama and the liberals is the following imo. As much as patriots complain that Obama and Congress are blatantly ignoring the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers, there is ample evidence that many patriots don’t have a clue about the Founding States’ division of fedral and state powers enumerated in the Constituton. And If Constitution-savvy patriots were to force Obama guard dog Fx News to put the Constituton’s Section 8 of Article I, Article V and the 10th Amendment on the public agenda, then the unconstitutionally big federal government could arguably be forced back into its Section 8-limited power cage overnight.

The last thing liberals or conservatives want is to put fedgov back to it’s intended limited power role. That would mean no “great” society, no drug war, no medicare/medicaid, no federal role in marriage, no fubar reading of the commerce clause and a host of other authoritarian, heavy handed, big government both sides have come to worship.

And no one has yet mentioned the glaring problem with this article.

Liberals don’t know the Constitution any better than patriots do. The truth of the matter is that the states can legally provide voters with all the government social spending programs that the federal is now unconstitutionally providing, depending on what the legal majority voters of a given state want.

And there is nothing stopping the Article V state majority from amending the Constitution to delegate to Congress the specific powers to tax and spend for national versions of social spending programs if the states think that Congress can run such programs better (cough!).

So Constitution-ignorant patriots are needlessly fighting Constitution-ignorant liberals, both sides of the fence unthinkingly caving in to Progressive Movement propaganda to unconstitutionally centralize government power in DC.

1) Can you quote Nathan Hale?

No; though I'm tempted to say he's the guy who said "I regret I have but one life to give for my country" before he was hanged by the British.

2)Give the location and signifance of the Old North Church.

I don't know that one at all.

3) Give the location and signifance of Lexington and Concord.

CT; the significance is that the British were going to seize the community's cannon and gunpowder and were met by the local militia -- they ordered the militia to get out of their way but the colonials would not accede. Somewhere in there someone fired a shot, which side is unknown, and that sparked a battle -- this battle is considered to be the start of the Revolutionary War.

Now I'm off to find out who Hale was and the significance of that church.

No kidding, over here I was basically called unpatriotic because I refused to vote for Romney, the reasoning: Romney could issue executive order to repeal* Obamacare, "no tax increase on successful entrepreneurs"**, and "There would be no push to cut military."**

Over here there's some info on getting the ball rolling on repealing the 17th Amendment.

* Ignoring that an EO 'solution' to Obamacare would be nothing less than handing the President a blank check on extorting states: "do what I say or I'll cancel your exemption!"
** I guess that the legislature is the only body capable of altering law [and the budget] is irrelevant.

Old north church, think Paul Revere.
And remember someone had to light and hold that lantern,
Revere wasn’t the only patriot.

“Hah, I’m three for three, does that make me a subversive?”

Yes. Probably categorized as AngryWhiteMale Constitutional fanatic and needless to say, enemy of the Party.

You’re probably just trying to be among the first arrested and interned so that you can grab a top bunk in the camp.

;^)

Over here there's some info on getting the ball rolling on repealing the 17th Amendment.

I used to beat the drum for repealing 17th Amendment and would still support it's repeal.

However, I came to the realization that federal senators take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution regardless of who elects them to office.

The real problem associated with 17A is the following imo. Constitution-ignorant voters do not understand that the Constitution was made to limit (cripple) the powers of the federal government. In fact, Justice John Marshall had clarified that Congress is prohibited from laying taxes in the name of any issue which it reasonably does not have the power to address under the Constitution's Section 8 of Article I.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." --Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

So consider that one of the reasons that the Founding States probably established the federal Senate was so that federal senators would kill appropriatons bills initiated by the House of Representatives, bills which the HoR cannot not justify under Section 8. In other words, the Senate is supposed to kill bills which arguably not only usurp unique, 10th Amendment protected state powers, but also steal state revenues associated with those powers.

Again, I still support repeal of 17A. But the real problem with 17A, imo, is actually Constitution-ignorant voters who are tricked into abusing their voting power as a consequence of not understanding the Founding States' division of federal and state government powers.

More specifically, patriots abuse their voting power by electing federal senators who irresponsibly campaigned on promises to help the HoR establish federal spending programs for issues which corrupt Congress actually has no Section 8 authority to address.
