Three weeks after a 10-year-old Alexandria boy was arrested for showing a toy gun to another student on a school bus, prosecutors dropped charges against the child Tuesday and his record was scrubbed clean. We did not feel it was appropriate or productive to proceed with criminal prosecution and believe the matter can be best handled administratively within the school system, said Alexandria Commonwealths Attorney S. Randolph Sengel. The childs mother, Nakicha Gilbert, said that she was glad her sons courtroom travails had ended but that it shouldve never happened in the first place. The fifth-grader at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School in Alexandria was arrested this month after he showed a cheap fake gun with an orange tip to another boy on the school bus. A girl on the bus saw the toy gun and later told her mother that she was scared; the girls mother then called school leaders. The next day, school officials searched the boys backpack, found the toy gun and called police. He was fingerprinted, photographed and brought before a court Feb. 5, charged with brandishing a weapon.

It took them 3 weeks to figure that out.
What a braintrust they have.
You can’t arrest someone for a non-crime...and then say you’re not going to charge them. That makes no sense at all. The arrest was illegal and they should get their a**** sued off.
Idiots! More proof they are trying to ban the thought of freedom among our children.
And the Idiot cop that “Arrested” this kid along with everyone else involved Deserves nothing less than LIFE in PRISON for KIDNAPPING. Ridiculous
It’s Alexandria. Critical thinking is grounds for firing.
Only in bizarro land can this happen. I hope the parents sue for 10 million dollars.
probably a nest of pedophiles out to break the will to resist in yet another child ~ that would include the judge and the cops in on this deal.
How toy gun, is a toy gun.....
Not that I am supporting the actions of school officials here, or even the cops, but there are things like nerf guns that are not even close to an actual weapon, was this like the old cap guns we had as kids where they were as realistic as possible ?
If it was some ridiculous looking toy that was clearly a toy then sue them to death.
In a sane world, the entire school administration would be doing time behind bars.
Ten years in prison and he would get a better education than at a public school.
On the other hand, the authorities have made a new enemy.
Whether they could or could not, they did it.
A 10 year old boy sent to a prison facility because he wanted to protect his classmates from bad people...
We are maybe 10-20 years out from sending children to death camps.
This is actionable. I hope they sue the crap out of all involved.
He will put in a cell with the girls who didn’t want to shower with trannies in Junior High
Five bucks said this little girl's twit of a mother was the one "scared" and couldn't wait to run her big mouth and cause trouble.
Another five on it says the daughter told her mother, "mom it's just a toy."
Hardened criminal: Whatcha in here for?
10 year old boy: Packing heat at school.
Hardened criminal: Really? What kinda gun?
10 year old boy: A toy .38 special!
