OAKLAND (KPIX 5) – Oakland’s crime problems have gotten so bad that some people aren’t even bothering to call the cops anymore; instead, they’re trying to solve and prevent crimes themselves.
KPIX 5 cameras caught up with a half dozen neighbors in East Oakland’s Arcadia Park neighborhood Monday as they walked the streets on the lookout for crime. The vigilance has never seemed more necessary than now; 25 homes in the neighborhood have been burglarized over the last two months alone.
In a neighborhood that has started to feel like the wild west, people have even started posting “wanted” signs.

From the sound of it, there are multiple thugs coming through neighborhoods together. I hope Mr./Ms. Tarvins has a firearm with the ability to defend themself against more than 2-3+ robbers/rapists/murderers at a time.
Soon, the State of California and the Obama administration plan to be infringing on those rights if they have their way. All in the name of 'public safety'. Blatant irrationality.
Aren’t the Mexicans in Mexico doing that in a particular town?

More specifically, consider the following relatively old court case.
Warren v. District of Columbia
The District of Columbia Court of Appeals decided that, in my words, police protection is not a constitutional right. So the people of Oakland are self-policing themselves as the Founding States had arguably intended when they wrote the 2nd Amendment, not that citizens of Oakland ae necessarily pro-gun rights. Critiques welcome.

Oakland. Now, there’s a story, without enough words.
All this is happening in a city that has been ruled by communists (Dellums), marxists (Dellums, Lee?, etc), socialists and assorted psycho-radicals since the 1960’s.
Reaping what they voted for. Now some are wising up and recognizing the need for a viable 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms for self defense.
Oh how the worm has turned.

Why, they learned a lesson from GZ's misadventure. They are not going to call the cops, neither before the confrontation nor after. It is an old maxim that involving the police can only make a bad situation worse.
If we imagine that GZ and TM were all alone in this world, with no police, GZ would have crawled from under the body of TM, dusted himself off, and proceeded to wherever he was going. Being a good neighbor, he would also arrange for the dead body to be removed. That's all. Total expense: $1 for the spent round, and a few more for a garbage truck run.
Of course, today we do not permit the strong to make their own laws and to enforce them - for better or for worse. But the role of police in GZ's case is hardly positive. They didn't save him from near death, and they are about to destroy his life. They are just finishing the job that TM started.

There were dire warnings that the criminal elements would take over the city. Windows were boarded,children kept inside. People decamped for safer places.
Crime dropped.
By 40%.
Every neighborhood, every city block, had armed citizens patroling with hunting rifles and shotguns. Criminals decamped for safer places.
We get as much crime as we tolerate.
I wonder if the police in Oakland are enforcing gun laws and making sure these neighborhoods are being policed by people legally allowed to own and handle weapons? Maybe the state legislators making the draconian gun laws should be forced to park for several hours in Oakland unarmed.
Is it possible the people gave the cops a bad time about being ‘racists’ everytime they shot a criminal or roughed someone up, that the cops said, “Forget you.”
So the center of liberalism is soft on crime? What a surprise! So liberals really don’t want to stop criminals from waltzing in and taking what is “rightfully” theirs from hard-working productive citizens. What a surprise!
So liberals want to take guns from honest, law-abiding non-violent citizens and deliberately leave them in the hands of criminals! What a surprise!

Those were the old days; now many of the cops themselves are black due to affirmative action/the criminalizing of whiteness. Here in NJ they laid off so many cops (especially the recent crops of unqualified tokens) that the remaining police forces are middle-aged; people will grow up quickly here as the urban raiding parties, having picked the welfare reservations clean, fan out along the frontier.
They have enough tax money though to give to the wealthy owners of the Oakland Raiders.
Open carry of even an unloaded weapon in California is illegal unless it is on your own property.
Maybe the state legislators making the draconian gun laws should be forced to park for several hours in Oakland unarmed.
AND unprotected. Good thought.
An OPD of my acquaintance tells me that the neighborhoods where gang murders are rampant are known as a “self-cleaning oven”.
Meanwhile, in different State houses in America. The Leftists are plotting to disarm the population.

Noting that the Bill of Rights (BoR), including 2A, originally didn't apply to the states, consider that John Bingham, the main author of Sec. 1 of 14A, had officially included 2A when he read the first eight amendments as examples of constitutonal statutes containing privileges and immunities which 14A applied to the states. See 2A in the middle column of the page linked to below from the post-Civil War congressional record.

And for those of you who haven't seen the following, the Supreme Court later clarified that the 2A was made not to give the right to bear arms, but to clarify that Congress cannot infringe on the natural right (my term) to use arms in self-defense against another citizen when necessary.
"The second and tenth counts are equally defective. The right there specified is that of "bearing arms for a lawful purpose." This is not a right granted by the Constitution. Neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence. The second amendment declares that it shall not be infringed, but this, as has been seen, means no more than that it shall not be infringed by Congress. This is one of the amendments that has no other effect than to restrict the powers of the national government, leaving the people to look for their protection against any violation by their fellow citizens of the rights it recognizes, to what is called, in The City of New York v. Miln, 11 Pet. 139, the "powers which relate to merely municipal legislation, or what was, perhaps, more properly called internal police," "not surrendered or restrained" by the Constitution of the United States." --United States v. Cruikshank, 1875.
So the states now arguably have as much constitutional red tape as Congress does with respect to regulating arms.
On the other hand, noting that Bingham had also clarified that 14A did not take away state's rights, although I think that guns need be regulated to an extent with respect to age requirements and other uncommon common sense considerations, I believe that such laws should be left up to the states, not the federal government. After all, it's too easy for anti-gun rights liberals to abuse federal legislative powers to trash our natural right to self-defense.
In fact, consider a major 14A obstacle federal lawmakers who want to take away our gun rights. When Congress makes gun laws, 14A arguably requires Congress to make only laws which prevent the states from enforcing state gun laws which abridge our natural right to self defense.
