Last week, the American computer security firm Mandiant released a detailed study shedding light on the secret cybercorps of the Chinese government. The Shanghai Group, or Unit 61398 of the Peoples Liberation Army, is believed to operate out of a nondescript 12-story building (above) on the outskirts of Shanghai. Over the past six years, Mandiant claims to have tracked thousands of attacks on American industry, business, government and military targets originating from that area.
Given the ubiquity of information technology, the threat of cyberattacks will continue to grow. The scope of these assaults can range from accessing confidential information and disabling websites to remotely shutting down air defenses and causing nuclear centrifuges to self-destruct. The following is a sampling of significant cyberattacks, intended to demonstrate the havoc a determined cyberwarrior can inflict.

Both of them “Exploit” variants.

Good luck getting any cash out of me!
Point is, before this, I haven't had any virus or malware issues since I bought my brand new Dell 18 months ago.
Can't help but notice this sudden surge in major attacks and wonder if my issues are related to it.
You are running A/V, right?
I wonder if we are attacking them as well? I would hope so.
Alex, I have returned to Obama land. I hate it. I hope to be back in the Philippines for good, by the end of the year. I miss my honey already, but the time will pass quickly.

Mark, hope you can get out ASAP.
I am afraid it will get much worse there.
You are correct sir. I think it will get MUCH MUCH worse, before it gets better. I have been fighting against these slime sucking scum bags for long enough. Time to pass the torch to younger people. You may wonder why I am wide awake at 4:30 AM, posting on FR. Jet lag.
See what I mean? I can’t even remember to post it properly. Big time jet lag.
For the record......
unmentioned are the incidents or perhaps continuous monitoring of Chinese army computers by clandestine CIA elements.
As long as we are not making China pay a price for this these attacks will continue.
We should tell them we know about it, and demand they stop it, or we’ll suddenly have long delays at our ports while we “carefully” inspect Chinese crap intended for Walmart. Escalate as required. Slow payments to Chinese manufacturers, etc, etc.
unmentioned....... what cyber offensive actions are underway by the USA?
I think of Enigma and Magic, Brit and American code breaking successes and wonder. Do we know of cyber attacks because they are observed in real time?
