Why Asian-Americans Have Turned Their Backs on the Republican Party
Daily Beast ^ | Feb 26, 2013 | Lloyd Green

Since 2000, Asian-Americans have consistently voted Democratic. In 2008, Asian-Americans gave 62 percent of their vote to Barack Obama. Last November that number jumped to 73 percent even as the president’s margin of victory in the popular vote was cut in half as he garnered a Dukakis-like 41 percent of white voters and slid by more than 13 points among Jewish-Americans.

BTW, east asian girls are all about the ‘marry an American guy’ thing though. Slowly but surely they are being absorbed into the basic white infrastructure.

Chain migration and discomfort with Christianity.

What percentage of Japanese-Americans, most of whom are probably at least fourth-generation and don’t have a lot of relatives in Japan they want to bring over, voted for Obama? They also have very high average income, so high taxes hurt and don’t help them.

The Dems are the party of congressman Hank Johnson who thinks too many people will tip over a Pacific island. And Sheila Jackson Lee who thought astronauts landed on Mars. Now who is the stupid party?

Yes, but those things won't get media attention - at least not the media minorities watch.

The problem we face is traditional, conservatives have completely lost the culture at every level. The left now controls nearly 100% of the education, media and entertainment establishments. Making the Republicans more conservative is a fine idea, but it isn't likely to win over minorities. In fact, it may make minorities more hostile to the GOP in the short run since almost all polling shows these groups believe in an even bigger government. We are, quite literally, importing masses of people who reject the very ideas of conservative, limited government.

Slowly but surely they are being absorbed into the basic white infrastructure.

This is being aided by the fact that on average, Asians need higher test scores than every other ethnic/racial group to get into the college of their choice. The result is that the product of mixed white-Asian marriages inevitably classify themselves as white.

Ultimately, there is no such thing as an Asian, in terms of policies that can be tailored to win Asian votes. In political terms, the adjective Asian is merely an umbrella term used to cover a heterogeneous bunch of people. From a religious standpoint, for instance, every major religion under the sun is a majority in some country in Asia. Sri Lanka is majority Buddhist, India is majority Hindu, Pakistan is majority Muslim, China is majority pagan, Japan is majority Shinto, the Philippines is majority Christian, and so on.

There's a myriad of cultures, languages, traditions and races between Istanbul and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskii, so trying to cater to the "Asian vote" is an exercise in futility.

Actually the number of interracial children is increasing so dramatically that in a generation, two tops, the Dems are going to have an intractable jumbled mess on their hands.

So nature and natural selection may eventually solve what politics can’t (or won’t)

Of course I won’t be around to see it fail.

or both, or neither, or maybe whatever will get you into the best graduate program with the least effort ~ at which school. There are plenty of discussion materials on the net to guide the clever student!

What did I just say about polling? The east asian community, and the Souf' asian community as well, are so widely distributed in America (outside of Hawaii and Walnut Creek) as to be UNPOLLABLE!

What we are left with is a propaganda program by indian american politicians to make themselves look more important.

There are two JA communities. There's the one in Hawai ~ they own the Democrat party. There's the other one everywhere else. They are so assimilated they can't be differentiated from white folks when it comes to politics.

I have found that CBA's tend to vote against old guys though.

If you really believe just being more conservative is enough to win these groups you're nuts.

Agreed. So the GOP has a choice. Either start pandering like the Dem's do (promising all sorts of free things), or stop being competitive in national races. It's an ugly choice, to be sure.

They figured out/debased themselves, that by voting Democrat, they can garner "free stuff". Instead of working 18 hr days saving for the next generation's education like they did in the past (First generation sacrifices are probably ridiculed now), they can sit back while laws are crafted in their favor. Second, third, etc. generation Cubans are doing the same thing unfortunately.

The science stuff is laughable, repubs generally are for less regulation which comes with responsibility. The current generation shuns responsibility (All racial/ethnic groups) hence vote for the political Party who does not give a hoot about responsible governance.

Nah, they’ll just have a pure majority who are privileged in society by their ability to classify themselves as ‘nonwhite’.

“And for Asian-Americans, the fact that so many live in uber-liberal California and NY is probably also a factor, even among more established Asian-Americans.”

Any time you see a group that is given a % for a national number and try to apply it to politics, it usually isn’t as useful as a break down of the group by state, which is how we decide national politics. For instance, if there is a state where the pubs win the asian vote by 70% and a state where dems win the asian vote by 70%, a national number doesn’t let us see that and try to figure out why that might be. It will only get more useless as less and less states are polled for national elections and the extrapolation is pushed even farther.

Yup, that may be what we are faced with. Ugly choice indeed.

We can refuse to pander, refuse to play identity politics, cede more and more state and national elections to Democrats, move in a more conservative direction and hope to be the party that, someday, takes over when the economy finally implodes from overspending, debt and regulation. Unfortunately, even that isn't guaranteed. A population that, in its heart, doesn't really want to cut government (think Greece, Italy, etc) may not vote for the party it perceives as being happy to cut government. When pressed the people are just as likely to keep voting Democrat because it is the party that thinks more like them - cuts government only because they absolutely have to, not because they want to.

Socialism is really very much like poison working it's way through the population. I think it is fair to say that it will attack every democratic country, and may ultimately be the reason democracies become unworkable in the long term without limiting concepts like universal suffrage (preventing dependent people from voting themselves more of other peoples money). Voting tends to be generational too, so we have a long, long way to go till this works its way out of the demographics that have fallen for it. It may be too late already. In fact, I'd argue it almost might be better if a national confrontation happened sooner rather than later - while there are still large conservative populations in red states willing (probably) to fight.

According to US Quick Facts, the current US population is 313,914,040 and California 34,041,430.

The US is 5% Asian and California 13.6% So, that would be about 15,695,000 in the US and 4,630,000 in California. So, California has about 29.5% of the US Asian population.

NY is 7.8% Asian in a population of 19,570,261, or 1,526,480, or another 4.5% of the US Asian population. So, that’s a full 1/3 of the Asian population in two states, and they probably vote just a liberal or more so than the rest of those two states’ populations.

And there would be many recent immigrants in those states, making them even more likely to vote Dem.

But they don't. Obama got 61% of the Asian vote. Subtract the 8% that is Muslim and the 14% that is Indian, and Obama ends up with 39% of the remaining Asian vote.

Yea, sort of... If we go by the poll linked by the guy who, apparently, we CAN'T mention here?? WTF?

The other big national exit polls had "Others" at 72%. Subtract out 7 of the 8 Muslim, and 12 of the 14% Indians, and you're left with 53% voting for Obama. I guess, the data is not that solid. Doesn't stop the MSM from proclaiming it from every rooftop.

LOL! Spot on about the Asians (I don’t know the Hispanic cultures as intimately, so I can’t agree, but wouldn’t doubt it).

Can you imagine any of them fascinated by the miracle of the Constitution, or truly saddened by what is happening to it? It’s just not part of their mental landscape.

The exit polls are garbage except in Hawaii ~ there the Japanese Americans always vote Democrat because ~ else ~ whatever ~ their junk would fall off.
