A toy bb gun was discovered by an employee of Sara's Preschool near school grounds Tuesday morning, according to Ridgewood police.

At roughly 8 a.m., a preschool employee found the bb gun in the woods by the Prospect Street facility. He alertly confiscated the toy gun and stored it for safe keeping until an officer arrived and removed it, according to police.

The bb gun was not loaded and police have not identified its owner, according to Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward.

"There was no evidence of criminal activity," Ward said. "No other weapons were located."

I don’t see the difference between calling the police about a BB gun lying in the woods and calling the police for a cheeseburger delivery.

If I found anything cool in the woods, I would keep it.

***The gun control crowd wants BB-guns classified as firearms.***

I do believe my slingshot with a ball bearing would do more damage than a BB gun. And to put the REAL fright in them, I could use a .50 cal muzzle loading rifle bullet in the sling.

And if they ban slingshots, I can make a 5000 year old sling with a rock which will still get the job done.

We were able to “tweek” the Daisey pump BB gun so it would fire semi-auto on the pump without using the trigger.(circa 1957)

In 1958, when I was 11, the old guy next door passed away. They cleaned out the house and had a ton of stuff in the alley to be picked up. I looked in an old cigar box and found .32 revolver( loaded)I still have it today.

Good thing it didn’t go on a rampage through the school randomly shooting people and objects. We all know guns do that all by themselves! Even worse it could have been a semi auto nerf gun! Have u seen the size of the clips on some of those??

Well, you’d just better call the police and turn it in before it kills someone!

Best thing I ever found in the woods as a kid was a fully loaded 6-pack. Had fun with that one!

idiot.

if it was me, this would ave ended with me having a bb gun. just put it in a bag and wrapped up, in the trunk, and then home.

this whole country is awash in idiots. as this article illustrates they exist everywhere in every profession.

And if they ban slingshots

Slingshots are illegal in New Jersey. I kid you not.

Like you, I ponder the imponderables.

For example, why do you chop a tree DOWN, then cut it UP?

This reminds me of an article a few years ago about a gal that was kicked off a high school campus. She had been helping her grandmother move and a butter knife fell out of a box onto the floor of her car.

Some do gooder walked by, saw it, turned her plate number into the office and she got suspended for a couple of weeks because of the “zero tolerance” policy at the school. Who could you hurt with a butter knife?
